Romania is truly a treasure country, with ROCA's TV series of buses and DAC's Romanian version of the Unimog multifunctional truck, but the most well-known brand has to be Romain. It is a brand established after the cooperation between Rocca and Mann, and its products include trucks, buses, construction vehicles, special vehicles and so on. Today is the road "Big Ant" Romain 17.280 city bus, which is a low-entry model.
The factory that produced this model is located in Tudor Vladimirescu, not In Brasov, where another bus of its kind is produced, as described in the next episode. Founded in 1921, the Braşov Automotive Plant is the backbone of the Romanian automotive industry, and in 1971 the Roman joint venture was formed in cooperation with Mann.
Romania has a long history of cars, and it started car production before joining the Soviet Union. However, due to the deep penetration into the hinterland of Europe, it was eventually impacted by large enterprises such as France and Germany, and now domestic car brands are either acquired by Renault or use MAN engines.
The design of this Roman 17.280 city bus is different, first of all, the shape of the front windshield is oval, and the cute shape, although good-looking, does not help the driver's vision. The bottom of the inner figure eight wiper is on both sides of the bottom of the windshield, the middle of the front face is a large "ROMAN" Roman logo, and the middle of the trapezoidal panel below the logo is the license plate holder.
On each side are three independent circular headlights, the three lights are arranged diagonally, and the bottom lights are flanked by independent circular yellow turn signals.
The main driver has short rearview mirrors on one side and an out-swing rearview mirror on the right side for better visibility. The side windows of the body are also very individual, and the front width and rear narrowness are gradually raised. The driver's side window goes straight down to the floor, and the side view is super spacious.
The car looks like a "big ant" from the front right
This is a low-floor two-axle bus with three front, middle and rear doors on the right side, both boarding armrests inside, and the front and rear doors are opened in one direction and open in both directions in the middle. On the right side of the front is a conventional forward-extending swing mirror. At the front door, there are three steps with yellow warning bars and lights on the steps. The middle door is directly on the flat floor, and the light is on the steps below the left seat in front. Due to the high rear seats, the rear door is a four-step staircase, each of which is also preceded by a light.

The middle door is open and flat floor.
The exterior design of the vehicle is not only personalized, but even the interior is a bit speechless. The two-spoke steering wheel has no function keys, and the small "ROMAN" logo in the middle cannot be seen clearly without looking closely. Although the front dashboard is a wrap-around design, the function keys are not arranged in the wrap-around area. There are a total of 1 large 1 in 6 small a total of 8 mechanical instruments, the layout is a large table independent, small and medium table combination. Above the gauge are two rows of 32 functional warning lights.

Chicken leg shaped gear handles on separate platforms
The gear handle design makes people want to hit the wall, and in order to set the independent chicken leg shaped gear at the right height, a small square platform is specially designed. In fact, I understand this idea of reducing the hanging distance, but is it not good to directly design a bracketed handrail? In addition, the column is still on the outside of the driver's platform, like an air bag that has been kicked into the corner.
There are steps on both sides of the door aisle in the vehicle, if you go from front to back, you must pay attention to it, people who are used to riding the kind of flat-floor bus in the car will be very unaccustomed. There is a set of back-to-back double seats above the front wheels, and the interior is equipped with rich armrests, but also has auxiliary armrests on the top of the seats. From the back to the front, the seats are staggered, and the armrests and pull rings are all over the car.
The central forward steps are illuminated
There are three steps backwards in the middle, and there are lights in front of the steps. There is also a high step in the rear part of the car in the distance, and the last row of seats is much higher than the rest of the car, but unfortunately there are only two seats. The interior lighting is mainly by the two rows of rectangular lights in the middle of the top, the top two sides are equipped with air conditioning outlets, and the roof sunroof is also an emergency exit.
