The last large bend before the Yellow River enters the sea flows in an east-west direction through the northern part of Lankao. "Two breaks in three years, one change in a hundred years", the yellow river in Lankao's multiple breaks and diversions have formed the three major disasters of the Yellow River in history, sandstorm, waterlogging and salinity, and have also caused the extreme poverty of the people of Lankao for hundreds of years.
According to reports, 1962 was the most serious period of Lankao's three harms, when more than 90% of the county's land could not grow crops. After Secretary Jiao came to Lankao, he endured liver pain and traveled more than 5,000 miles, chasing the wind, watching quicksand, wading in floods, and looking for scientific methods to deal with the three evils.
Today, after several generations of governance, the sandy land of Lankao has become a thing of the past, replaced by a bumper harvest of fertile land, and the ecological environment has also been greatly improved. Now, both sides of the Yellow River here are wetlands, and every year more than 200 kinds of wild animals and birds such as geese, egrets, swans and so on breed here.
In recent years, Lankao County has developed tourism according to local conditions, and has built 52 kilometers of high-standard tourist loops and 25 kilometers of pedestrian walkways around the Yellow River Bay. In addition, Lankao has also set up alfalfa grass planting bases on both sides of the Yellow River, which plays a very important role in beautifying the environment and conserving water sources. Zhangzhuang Village: Embark on the happy road of characteristic tourism
"Happiness Road" is the central road of Zhangzhuang Village, which was once the largest outlet in Lankao. And now, along the "Happiness Road" into the village, Tonghua Academy, Yellow River Bay Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Folk Customs Museum... It has entered people's sight successively.
In 2015, when the leaders of Lankao County investigated in Zhangzhuang Village, they found that there were many idle courtyards in Zhangzhuang Village, which had the potential to develop rural tourism, so they led the villagers to "go out" to broaden their horizons, guide and inspire everyone to combine local characteristics, and decorate the idle houses into a small courtyard with beautiful environment. Among them, the earliest completed courtyard is called "Dream Zhangzhuang", which is a homestay that integrates accommodation, catering and play.
Subsequently, Zhangzhuang Village vigorously developed red tourism, built diversified tourist attractions such as the Four Red Flag Hall and Jiao Yulu Spiritual Experience Base, normalized activities such as "Happy Homeland Lecture Hall" and "Happy Dumpling Banquet", and launched intangible cultural heritage exhibition and performance activities, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the masses and promoting the vigorous development of rural tourism.
At the end of 2016, Zhangzhuang Village took the lead in taking off the hat of poverty, and successively won the honorary titles of "National Civilized Villages and Towns", "National Rural Tourism Key Villages", "National Typical Case Villages of Rural Style Civilization", "The First Batch of Rural Grassroots Party Building Demonstration Villages in Henan Province" and so on. At present, more than 1,100 villagers in Zhangzhuang have achieved stable employment, and the village's collective economic income will be more than 810,000 yuan in 2021.

Kunyang Music Town: The national musical instrument industry is booming
Due to the special soil and climate along the Yellow River, the paulownia wood growing here is loose and not easy to deform, in addition to blocking the raging wind and sand, it is also a good material for making national musical instruments. Nowadays, the national musical instrument industry developed by using paulownia as a raw material has become one of the important pillar industries of Lankao's economic development. At present, there are more than 200 ethnic musical instrument production enterprises in the county, with an annual output of 700,000 sets of various ethnic musical instrument products, 5 million sets of accessories, and an annual output value of 2 billion yuan, accounting for 35% of the national market share, driving 18,000 employees of various types.
After the initial success of musical instrument production, the county party committee and county government took the national musical instrument culture industrial park as the main body to create a music town, forming a master plan of "one body, two wings, three parks and two villages", and seeking multi-level and high-level development. As a key project in Henan Province, music town has built a concert hall, r&D center, quality inspection center, e-commerce center, Qindu Ancient Street, Qinshi Museum, Zheng Master Garden and other projects, to create a large-scale comprehensive cultural industrial park integrating production, sales, training and performing arts.
