It was priced at $3, but it was sold for $60, and a good hotel in the United States at the time had a monthly rent of only $30. Such acclaimed and prestigious achievements earned it the Pulitzer Prize and the American Publishers Association Award in 1937. The film adaptation of the novel, Gone with the Wind, was a huge success, becoming the strongest film in Hollywood history. This made it even more famous, so much so that by the end of the 1970s, the novel had been translated into 27 languages and sold well around the world.
