In 1916, in a British dock, there were two destroyers that had been blown up by German torpedoes, one without a head and one without a tail. No one expected that a decision made by the engineer would bring them back to life!

The cause of the incident is this: on the night of October 26, the British destroyer "Nubian" was blown up by a German torpedo. The British dragged it to Dover when two steel cables suddenly broke, and the Nubian crashed into a cliff by the sea, killing 15 people at once.

The British dragged it to the dockyard in Chatham for repairs. Faced with the headless destroyer, the engineers were at a loss and their brains were broken.

Perhaps by fate, the needed bow of the destroyer Nubian was about to appear.

On November 8, another British destroyer, the Zulu, was also attacked by a German torpedo, and a huge explosion blew up the stern. Still unwilling to abandon it, the British towed it to the dockyard in Chatham for repairs.

Early that morning, the engineers came to the dock and saw that the two destroyers were very badly damaged, one without a head and one without a tail.

After accounting, the repair of these two destroyers will require a lot of human, financial and material costs. It was almost equivalent to building two new destroyers.

Looking at it, an engineer clapped his hands on the door: "Why don't we merge these two warships into one!" He couldn't help but rejoice in his own genius.

The engineers thought it was feasible to discuss, so they began to work hard. However, pulling the ruler is dumbfounded, the "Nubian" destroyer is about 85 meters long and about 8.5 meters wide, compared with the "Zulu" destroyer, the width of the two is not the same, the difference is nearly 10 centimeters.

This problem was not difficult for technical engineers, and after technical research and repeated testing, they successfully spliced the two warships together to form a new destroyer.

On June 7, 1917, the assembled destroyer, renamed the Zubia, was quickly engaged in the war, charging the sea.

On February 4, 1918, the destroyer Zubia spotted a German submarine that was laying a german UC-CLASS II submarine, UC-50.

A submarine hunt begins. The officers and men of the combined "Zubia" destroyer were excited, as if they had seen the enemy of the past, and they vowed to avenge the revenge of the arrow of the year.

The German submarines looked bad, abandoned the mine-laying mission, and ran away. The destroyer Zubia chased after it, and immediately dropped a large number of depth charges on the German submarine.

Soon, I heard two violent explosions from the sonar and hit them! The German submarine quickly sank to the bottom of the sea and never had a chance to surface again.

The officers and men of the destroyer "Zubia" embraced each other excitedly, and after the two warships were combined, they were revived in blood and full of combat effectiveness. Successfully sank a German submarine.

There are many more stories about this legendary destroyer, and I will not tell them all here.

After the end of World War I, the successful destroyer was retired. Later, it was sold to a scrap steel company, and it took a year to dismantle it. #Old photos# #我要上微头条 #
