We arrived on an early morning boat and came across a local market not far from the boat. I enjoyed visiting the market, and although we hadn't started renting a car yet, it was inconvenient to bring ingredients and I wasn't sure if I could cook food at the place to stay, but I still enjoyed it. The local markets are very local, eating and eating can be seen here, what is the freshest ingredients in the local season, a trip to the market can be understood. The locals were welcoming and although they could tell we were just strolling around and had no intention of buying, they still gave us a very warm smile.

The ancient city is the best-preserved roman period building and one of the most spectacular Roman sites in the world. To this day, the south gate of Diocletian's Palace still stands on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, with the same blue sky and blue sea as it was 1700 years ago.

Among the ruins of the ancient city, performances can occasionally be seen. We were lucky enough to meet a group of well-dressed bands singing brisk songs. They are special among casually dressed visitors, but behind us, we feel as if we are in the recital hall of a thousand years ago, enjoying the most formal musical performances.

On foot, you will encounter guided tours from time to time, which can be taken from the visitor center. The guide is in English, French and German, but I didn't Chinese when I went, and I don't know if there will be Chinese guide after a few years. Personally, I think that if you can understand it, this place is worth listening to the guided tour, almost every building you walk by has a story, the carvings on the walls, the wall decorations, the design.

The statue of the bishop is prominently located in the square, and although it is so tall that it can be seen in any corner, you may notice that everyone walks up to the bishop. We took a closer look and immediately noticed something different. The thumb on the bishop's foot was shining golden, and after checking it, it was sure to say that touching the bishop's thumb would bring good luck. There seem to be a lot of such legends in the West, and there is often a part of the statue that is touched by tourists, and of course we have touched it several times.

The "underground palace" of Diocletian's Palace is the most complete part of the whole palace, which was used as an underground warehouse and prison at that time, and some people called it "Diocletian's Cellar". Above it was Diocletian's private apartment, but unfortunately it was gone. The underground palace provides people with information about the structure and layout of the palace in the Roman period, and we can use it to guess what the palace looks like above. The underground palace we see today is the western part and the largest part on the east side, and in order to make efficient use of the space, the governing body sets up souvenir shops in it and holds some exhibitions from time to time. When we went, there was a whole row of handicraft and souvenir stalls, and it was cool and comfortable to shop here, but I don't know if you dare to come here after dark.
