Struggle and growth in other places! The Day of "Sea Drift" (I)

author:Badminton Magazine

In the new season of 2022, the Chinese badminton team started a long overseas voyage. In order to compete, for the sake of points, and for the sake of returning to the track, all the soldiers have been in a "sea drift" state since March. They used Chiang Mai, Thailand as their origin, to and from all parts of the competition. For Guoyu, the game is justice, and they who have been training in China for the past two years urgently need to test and improve the competition one stop after another. What used to be an intensive schedule of continuous rotation now requires the addition of the word "more", but the belief of "cherishing every game and every ball" allows them to actively grow in self-regulation.

The season continues, the return date is still undecided, and the drifting life in a foreign country has made them more connected with home. In this issue, we interviewed everyone who is still preparing for the war, listened to their testimonials on overseas life, and sincerely hope that they will return soon.

Xia Xuanze: Overseas training, there are more difficulties to overcome

In the blink of an eye, it has been almost half a year since we trained and competed abroad, and in the past six months, the team has experienced many difficult tests, and has basically reached the goal of taking more points and leaning forward in the world ranking that we set at the beginning. At present, we have returned to our overseas training base in Chiang Mai and must make full use of the month before the World Championships to prepare for the World Championships.

Some time ago, the team participated in five consecutive Southeast Asian competitions, and the team members were very tired. Therefore, in the next month's preparation time, our first task is to let the players adjust and recover and strengthen their physical reserves. At the same time, we also have to carefully summarize these races. Summarization is very important, through summary, we can find out the problem, and through targeted training to make up for it in time.

In terms of the overall performance of the previous five races, our men's and women's singles can be said to have improved and fluctuated. Like the women's singles, we have four people who can compete in this year's World Championships. Among these four people, the performance of Chen Yufei and Wang Zhiyi is relatively stable, He Bingjiao's recent ups and downs are larger, and Han Yue has improved significantly. The men's singles, after the failure of the soup cup, we seriously summarized the gains and losses, and further clarified the guiding ideology of focusing on me, fast and attack. In the previous few games, everyone can also see that Lu Guangzu, Zhao Junpeng, Li Shifeng and other players have attacked more, indicating that they are consciously implementing our guiding ideology during the game. However, although they have the awareness of attacking, the means are still slightly single, and the rational use of techniques and tactics in the game is not yet mature. Overall, the focus of singles is to improve the players' ability to read the game. Then there is the game in the windy arena, and our players' ability to control the direction of the wind also needs to be further strengthened.

After training and competing abroad for half a year, I can only contact my family through video every day, especially if I encounter anything at home, I can't provide practical help, and everyone's heart is more or less unsteady. In addition, in overseas training, the conditions in all aspects can certainly not be compared with domestic, we need to overcome more difficulties. But the World Championships are a major event that we take very seriously this year, and we will definitely go all out to fight for the best results. In the next month, we will do a detailed job of preparing for the war.

Qiao Bin: New coach, new curriculum

I only went abroad at the end of April to meet you at the Asian Championships. It's only been three months, but it feels like it's passing quickly. In the past, many athletes transformed into coaches, first leading the team for a period of time, and then running into small players through some low-level competitions. But for me, when the coach is in a special epidemic environment, once he comes out to lead the team members to participate, he is directly to the high-level competition, which is equivalent to the direct amount of athlete training, and I also need to constantly learn and adapt.

After several consecutive races, it will feel a little tired, after all, the coach has to look at the entire group of players. In the 500th game, we have up to six players to play, so we have to study our opponents with six people and make their own tactical arrangements. The first two rounds started early in the morning and continued into the evening, and the players were spread out at different times, so sometimes I had to go off to warm up with them. It is really not easy to lead the team to play, the team members just need to play their own games well, our coach must cooperate with every team member, and the military guide and Xia director have to watch the whole team's entire game, and it is not easy for everyone.

In these competitions, I was most impressed by the semi-finals in Malaysia, where Lu Guangzu lost 1-2 to the final champion Vadojo. I think Azu worked hard and fought hard every game, but it was always a little bit out of release, but in this game, I think he released it wholeheartedly.

Out for a while, the new dad especially missed his son and his wife. Recently, my son will call dad in the video, which makes me very happy and happy, and I feel that people are not tired at once.

Chiang Mai this side is different from what I imagined, I always thought that Southeast Asia would be very hot and hot, but when I arrived here, I felt that it was just relatively stuffy, strong ultraviolet rays, as long as it was not in the sun, it was quite cool, and there seemed to be no domestic heat. Outside of training, I run every day to maintain a certain amount of training. After a few years of retirement, I still have a determination to stay in shape for the time being, and as for how long I can keep it, I can only say that I can do my best!

Tao Jiaming: Pushing the waves and cooperating together

Overseas expeditions began in early March, and the months were quick and fulfilling. From Europe to South Korea to Southeast Asia, the competition is very tightly connected, and the interspersed training time must be used well. So in retrospect, I think the half year passed quickly, not only to test in the game, but also to summarize new problems, but also to have breakthroughs.

There were four pairs in the women's doubles team, and overall they played well. Coach Jiang Jingzhen and I will assign how to keep an eye on the players in the game, including summarizing after the game and watching the video to arrange tactics. There have not been five consecutive races in the past, including last year's Su Cup and Tangyou Cup three major team competitions together, which also allows us to start over after winning the championship or from joy, or how to guide the team members after playing badly, which really requires different methods, and it is also a topic that we have to seriously study and think about.

After training in Chiang Mai for so long, I have adapted to the environment here. The base is very pristine, there are many birds, I know a lot, I am used to seeing them every day, and even I am used to seeing lizards and geckos. Moreover, it has been hot weather here, and it is not enough for a long time.

Usually, a person is still very homesick when he is in the room, and when he has time, he will make video phone calls and communicate with his family and children. After a long time out, the eating aspect is good, and the level of Chinese food in Europe and Southeast Asia is good. Generally, I would like to eat Sichuan cuisine and like to eat a little spicy heavy taste.

Yang Ming: Get used to fast pace and learn to relax

Time does pass quickly, and I'm used to this rhythm of life that trains while playing. The period from March to April from Europe to South Korea will feel a bit long, because the impact of the epidemic will be a little anxious, and it will be much better to go to Southeast Asia.

During the competition, it is a fixed process that is very close to the past. As a coach, you must not only keep an eye on the game, but also communicate well with the players, so you must adjust your mental state. During breaks, I drink tea, listen to music, and eat some food to spice up.

People in a foreign country, homesickness is certain, so night and family video is a must-do. Usually, I am a person who can eat anything and has no taboos, but this time I have eaten some domestic food in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Of course, what I want to eat most is rice noodles from Guangxi. Moreover, when you come to Southeast Asia to compete, the climate and life atmosphere here are similar to our Guangxi. In addition, I have been accustomed to the temperature of Nanning since I was a child, and I am not afraid of the sun, so I still enjoy it in Chiang Mai. I don't take the car when I go to the training gym because it's comfortable to sweat a little while walking.

Chen Qichen: Know yourself and know the other, without fear and fearlessness

I came back to the men's doubles team on January 1st and played with the old players again, and I think it was a very fulfilling and meaningful time. From the accumulation of Chengdu training to the series of competition experiences in the future, it is a good reflection of a struggle in our men's doubles team.

Time flies quickly, day after day, week after week, and there is an expectation of the game in order to test the results of training, find problems and solve problems. It's a repetitive process, and there's something to look forward to, so I define this phase as the "climbing phase." Now, our goal is very clear, all new men's doubles combinations should earn as many points as possible, improve the world rankings, and strive for all possible competition opportunities, so that by the end of the year, we can sign up for high-level competitions without points restrictions, and next year we can participate in the competition for Olympic points and chase our Olympic dreams.

In fact, the game is just a competitive process, more work in the usual time. Usually in training, there will be more communication between me and the team members. I will tell the players to know each other, first of all, to understand themselves, focus on their own playing characteristics and mentality adjustment. When it comes to the official game, I am assured to let the players play on their own, only tell them what I see and feel, and let the players learn to fight independently on the field and cope with the ever-changing! I usually observe the opponent, look at the video, do some analysis and preparation for the players, and pay attention to the players' performance during the game.

I have long been accustomed to this kind of life, I will not feel particularly tired, not to mention the team members will bring me the joy of victory! It has been more than 9 months since I left home on October 15 last year. In the past few months, I have been training and competing abroad, calling my family every day, sending WeChat, greeting each other, especially with my daughter's video is a compulsory course. I would also like to thank Madame for her understanding and support! It's not easy for her to be at home alone with her daughter.

In the foreign conquest, my requirements for eating are not very high, convenient and fast, generally eat in the canteen, flour noodles, snacks can be very satisfied, occasionally go out to improve the food, eat hot pot, barbecue and so on. Overseas can feel the strength of the motherland, China's hot pot can be eaten. Interestingly, when an overseas Thai came into contact with me, he said that I looked like a southern Thai (indigenous people of southern Thailand). At first, when I first arrived at the Chiang Mai base, I was not very accustomed to the small animals such as geckos in the base, but now I am completely accustomed to it. I am completely accustomed to the climate, food, environment, etc. in Southeast Asia, and in addition, the fruits here are really good!
