Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky announced on his social media platform that the first of 24 German PzH2000 self-propelled howitzer armored fighting vehicles ordered by Hungary in 2018 had arrived in Hungary.
"The PzH2000 is one of the most effective artillery pieces of our time, and the self-propelled gun developed for the German armed forces has been commissioned in several European countries and proves this. It has excellent accuracy and rate of fire parameters, as well as low maintenance costs", the minister added.

The existing artillery capacity of the Hungarian Wehrmacht is seriously insufficient and currently relies on the only remaining Soviet-era artillery. The new, state-of-the-art German-made artillery will be a major leap in defensive capabilities and will also complement the firepower of the upcoming Leopard II tank.
155 mm ammunition is also the standard type of projectile for NATO troops. The Russo-Ukrainian war showed the importance of artillery units, a weapon system on which Russian offensives relied heavily. Ukraine received a large number of artillery pieces from NATO allies, including five PzH2000s from the Dutch armed forces, and German ammunition.
PzH-2000 self-propelled howitzer fire control system is one of its biggest highlights, it is understood that Pzh-2000 is equipped with integrated GPS and inertial navigation system, can identify the direction in real time during the move, receive target parameters through digital data link / voice communication, cooperate with the car computer to calculate the design parameters, and then carry out accurate shooting. It can disperse within the communication range of various positions and concentrate on attacking designated targets, while the possibility of being countered is greatly reduced. It is said that the PzH-2000 can complete the preparation from the driving state to the parking state into the shooting state within 30 seconds, relying on the advantages of its fire control system and filling system, it can completely achieve "fighting while running".
