Harvey Elliott wants to spend his career at Liverpool – "That's why I'm here"

Harvey Elliott described his recent Liverpool contract as a sign that he was "more like a first-team player" as he set his sights on his career at Anfield.

Just over a year from his most recent signing, Elliott has signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool and linked him to his beloved club by 2027.

It's a sign of the progress he's made since joining from Fulham in 2019. This season he is poised to play a more prominent role in Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool have worked tirelessly this summer to secure key names for long-term contracts, with Mosalah, Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and James Milner agreeing to the new terms.

After announcing his deal, Elliott spoke to LFCTV, reviewing his journey so far and outlining his desire to stay for the rest of his career.

"Hopefully my career will end here," he said.

"Honestly, that's why I'm here to make sure I have a firm foothold in this team and do my best for Liverpool. That's what I want to do, I just want to put on my jersey and go out and play and enjoy. ”

'I remember a few days I was playing in the back garden in a Liverpool shirt, scoring goals, pretending to be those Liverpool players and now I'm playing with them.

"It's what I want to write down my memories, look back on the years to come, and think 'what a wonderful dream, I dreamed of my dream and realized it'."

If it weren't for a serious ankle injury at the beginning of last season, Elliott would have approached the record of 50 appearances, but he has scored 22 goals so far.

It's still a healthy record for a player who turns 19 in April, and the teenager already thinks he's more mature with the latest proof of progress.

"I don't think it's any more stressful for me, but in a way it's more like being a first-team player than last year, obviously coming back from a loan," he explained.

'In my first season on the band, I didn't play, just like I've been in for the last few years.'

"In terms of how it will run in the coming years, it feels more like a contract, a first team contract right now."

"I'm just excited to continue to wear Liverpool and keep playing. I was so excited I couldn't wait to race again. ”
