According to CCTV News, Singapore's Health Minister Wang Yikang announced at the event on August 11 that in order to further curb the development of diabetes, from the end of 2023, beverages with high sugar and trans fat content will be banned from advertising, and the new Ministry of Health will announce specific measures next year.

These beverages include beverages brewed on site at coffee shops, freshly squeezed juices and brewed teas. The new Ministry of Health will require businesses selling these drinks to mark the nutritional ratings of beverages with higher sugar and trans fat content in physical and electronic menus.

In addition, from 30 December this year, all packaged beverages in Singapore and beverages sold through vending machines must be labeled with a nutrition rating similar to "traffic lights". Advertising of D-grade packaged beverages listed as having the highest sugar and trans fat content is prohibited.

More than 400,000 people in Singapore suffer from diabetes. That equates to an average of one in nine Singaporeans who fall ill. In addition, an average of about 1,200 people with diabetes in Singapore have their limbs amputated each year. In order to curb the trend of diabetes, Singapore began to "declare war" on diabetes as early as 2016, introducing a variety of measures to restrict people's sugar intake.
