There was once a killer whale named "Tilikum" in SeaWorld Florida, which was clever and elegant, and soon became the star of animal performances in the aquarium.
All along, Tilikum has been very obedient, and it has worked well with the beast trainer, and it can complete some difficult moves very well.
Tilikum's personality is very gentle, and the trainer can even kiss it or sit on its mouth.
Unexpectedly, however, Tilikum actually bit her animal trainer alive in front of all the audience during the performance.
Fast forward to February 24, 2010, when, as usual, the aquarium welcomed a large number of visitors, sitting in the stands of the animal show area, waiting for Tilikum's wonderful performance.
At first, the performance went on as usual, with the beast trainer Tonne Branshaw giving a command and Tilikum completing an action. Slightly differently, when Tilikum finished showing his fins to greet him, he didn't seem to hear the trainer's return instructions.
Tirikum continues to show off his fins around the pool, as in the past, to get more fish. However, on that day, the aquarium did not prepare enough fish, and the fish were very small.
When Tilikum noticed that there were not enough fish in the bucket to eat, he felt teased and deceived, and his eyes changed. After that, wherever the beast trainer went, Tilikum followed closely.
The trainer decided to appease the killer whale, so he went to the water's edge and stroked Tilikum with his hand, at which point Tilikum bit the trainer's arm and dragged her into the water.
Blood stained the pool red, and the trainer was bitten to pieces by Tilikum. The film inadvertently filmed by tourists became the last scene of the tamer, TonNe Branshaw, before his death.
The deaths sparked a nationwide debate, and people were horrified to find that Tilikum had killed three people in 31 years: a tourist and two animal trainers.
In February 1991, a trainer named Kelty fell into the pool where Tilikum and two other killer whales lived, and he was first dragged to the bottom by Tilikum, and then three killer whales took turns to attack the trainer, and the trainer drowned.
This was Tilikum's first killing. After the incident, Tilikum was sold to the Florida Aquarium. There, the number of performances performed by Tilikum doubled several times at once.
In addition to the performance, the aquarium has also unearthed another use of Tilikum: breeding. Every once in a while, the staff would extract sperm from Tilikum's body and sell them at a high price.
In 1999, a man with a criminal record sneaked into a pool of killer whales at night, and early the next morning the man was found dead naked on Tilikum's back.
Staff suspected that he was trying to steal the killer whale's semen, so the accident was treated as an accident.
Wild killer whales generally do not hurt people, but there have been at least seventy incidents of killer whales in captivity.
Why is the seemingly docile Tilikum so violent? Why would you kill your "partner" who spends time with you?
Time goes back 31 years, when Tilikum was a baby whale and enjoyed the sea with his family.
Entrusted by the operators of SeaWorld, the whalers took a look at Tilikum, who had just been born. In order to protect the small life, the whale family divided into two ways, the male whale lured the hunter, and the female whale fled with the baby whale.
But hunters fought on land and air, fast and accurate, sprinkled whaling nets, and Tilikum became a bag.
One of the whalers recalled, at that time, the whole family of baby whales gathered around and made a mournful cry. At that moment, the whalers themselves felt that it was too cruel to forcibly take away the baby whales.
But humans are sometimes so cruel. The mother whale watched as the child was taken away, and Tirikum was forced to leave the sea and leave her family.
Tirikum was sent to the Aquarium and began a day-to-day life of training and acting.
Whales are social animals, and since Tilikum and the other whales in the aquarium are not of the same family, they are always attacked and bitten by other whales.
Humans, on the other hand, often starve Tirikum in order to make him perform obediently. Poor Tirikum was subjected to all kinds of abuse and oppression, and in order to be able to eat, it ostensibly obeyed the command of the beast trainer.
After the whale killing, another animal trainer said that it did not kill people because it was mad, it did not know that it was killing people, it only did it do so because it was frustrated.
Under the public opinion effect of the documentary "Blackfish" and the initiative of animal activists, the public began to resist entering The SeaWorld, and SeaWorld Orlando, Florida, announced in 2016 that it would gradually end killer whale breeding and performance.
As a result of his long-term captivity, Tilikum's physical condition deteriorated, and chronic diseases such as stomach ulcers and lung infections afflicted him every day.
In January 2017, Tirikum, 36, died in marine park from a lung infection.
