Professor Yu Jing, an associate researcher at the Institute of Information Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently opened a video course on "Scientific Research and English Academic Paper Writing" at Station B, and the whole process was dry.
Scientific research and academic paper writing is one of the core abilities that academic researchers need to have, but students who are currently in the initial stage of scientific research still have many confusions about how to make high-level academic research, how to write high-quality academic papers, and how to cultivate the necessary academic ability, and also lack scientific method guidance. In the valuable learning stage of school, early mastery of a set of perfect scientific research methods and understanding of the practical value of thesis writing specifications can effectively contribute to the output of high-level academic achievements.
Recently, Professor Yu Jing, associate researcher of the Institute of Information Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the experience of "scientific research and English academic paper writing" in the "CCF Student Pilot Program" system, which was unanimously praised and strongly responded by students.
In response to a large number of questions and suggestions from students, Teacher Yu Jing recently opened a video course on "Scientific Research and English Academic Paper Writing" at Station B, and the whole process was dry.
At present, the course has formed an integrated explanation system of "Video Belt Learning - PPT Review - Thesis Interpretation Practice" in the B station, course website and Zhihu column, and the course content has been used as the course teaching and student research training content by more than 20 universities and research institutes such as Sun Yat-sen University, Institute of Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest Jiaotong University, Jinan University, Shanghai University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, etc.

The course provides a standardized and systematic introduction to "Research and English Essay Writing" with the following characteristics:
(1) In the organization of course content, the course does not introduce the thesis writing methodology in general, but compares the components of a high-level paper and an ordinary paper with a series of vivid essay examples, analyzes in detail the differences in writing logic, English norms, charts and other aspects, and summarizes the writing specifications of each part of the paper, providing practical writing examples for students who have just started English academic paper writing;
(2) In terms of the speaker's way of speaking, the speaker runs through his experience, lessons and mental journey from the student to the road of scientific research in the report, so that the writing of high-level academic papers no longer stays in the "superficial routine and prosperity", but through standardized scientific research thinking and writing methods, deeply understands scientific problems, clearly displays scientific research results, forms a set of scientific research methods that can be continuously iteratively improved, and strictly abides by academic ethics;
(3) In terms of helping learners, students at all stages of scientific research can get different gains from the curriculum. For students who wish to do scientific research, they can quickly understand the complete process of scientific research, what scientific research capabilities need to be possessed at each stage, and in what ways to cultivate corresponding scientific research capabilities, so as to prepare psychologically and basic knowledge for entering the scientific research stage; For students who start scientific research, they can understand the systematic methods of literature research and thinking about innovative research points from 0 to 1, and form a scientific research "progress bar" with "I" as the center and avoiding internal volumes; For students who are ready to write papers, they can understand the bottom-line thinking and practical methods that high-level academic papers need to grasp in each part of the paper and the writing stage, which brings a little comfort to the tutor's daily anti-baldness.
The course content mainly includes:
(1) First introduce the relationship between academic research and academic paper writing, and introduce the common problems and reasons in English academic paper writing for young graduate students and senior undergraduates who have just started to engage in scientific research;
(2) Focus on the scientific thinking, writing specifications and revision process of high-level English academic papers with a large number of paper writing examples, analyze in detail the writing ideas, interrelationships and common problems of each part of a high-level paper, introduce how to sort out the thesis intention, contribution and method by drawing a good thesis research motivation schematic diagram and model framework diagram, and introduce the writing process of the paper gradually improving through the revision process of the paper from 0 to 1 dozen versions, and share the key time nodes and suggestions of thesis writing;
(3) Explain the basic writing specifications, analyze common problems through examples, and give corresponding suggestions;
(4) The course focuses on finding papers, lectures, and combing papers to introduce the accumulation methods and effective tools of 5 Lists, including Paper List, Idea List, Math List, English List, and Code List, to help students think about innovative research points in daily research, accumulate step by step, grasp the rhythm of scientific research, and calmly face deadlines.

Introduction of the lecturer
Yu Jing is an associate researcher at the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the ACADEMIC Committee of CCF YOCSEF Headquarters, and a member of the CCF Multimedia Technology Professional Committee. Jing Yu is committed to the field of computer vision, with a particular focus on the field of cross-modal intelligence combining computer vision - natural language processing. He has published more than 40 academic papers in international journals such as TIP, TMM, PR and international conferences such as ICML, CVPR, AAAI, ACM MM, IJCAI, www, etc., and has also served as a reviewer for academic journals and conferences such as TMM, PR, CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, IJCAI and other academic journals and conferences. Yu Jing has also presided over and participated in more than 10 national/provincial and ministerial scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program Project, and the Strategic Pilot Science and Technology Special Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
