Three British men drive a dying car with sleeping bags and 7 pairs of pants, destination: India

"We were swimming in Lake Bled in Slovenia... Sleeping in a park in Croatia overlooking the Adriatic Sea, with no one else around...", daniel Barton said excitedly.

We started to meet in middle school

Daniel Barton is 22 years old and is a British man. Recently, he drove about 3,500 kilometres from Scotland in a car that was about to be scrapped and traveled to nine countries.

Talking about the trip, Daniel was excited. Daniel didn't end there, though, and his final destination was India. And along the way, he wasn't alone, with two good friends by his side, Joe Fisher and Callum Kitson.

Fisher and Kitson were about the same age as Daniel and met when they were in middle school. All three were born in England and later moved with their families to Auckland, New Zealand.

Daniel, Fisher, and Kitson have always enjoyed the outdoors and have traveled with them many times.

In 2018, 2019 and 2020, the three of them went to Southeast Asia for backpacking together; In January 2021, they drove from the north tip of New Zealand to the south end.

After that, however, for some reason, they could no longer go out as casually as before.

After enduring for more than a year, they were finally able to get back to normal and couldn't wait to get out for a walk, so they had the journey mentioned above.

In fact, they had been planning for the operation as early as January this year. However, from the very beginning, they did not intend to have a comfortable trip, but wanted to be as "bitter" as possible.

Last month, they began putting the idea into action, first flying back to the UK and then looking for suitable transportation. Eventually, a car that had been driven for 23 years and was dying of air conditioning caught their eye. That cost them 1,800 pounds (about $15,000).

The three of them then filled the car with oil and set off on the morning of July 11 with 3 sleeping bags and 7 pieces of changed underwear from cape Duncasby Lighthouse in Scotland.

Today, after more than 10 days, they have driven about 3,500 kilometers and traveled to 9 countries, including France, Belgium and Luxembourg. When they were tired, they stopped and rested in their sleeping bags.

During this time, they overlooked the Austrian Alps, overlooked the Slovenian lakes, and rested by the beaches of the Adriatic Sea... The days go by.

Although happy, but also a little bitter

Of course, not everything is so rosy in this process. Daniel said that the three of them often get lost due to their unfamiliarity with their surroundings.

However, at this time, they did not panic, but turned off the navigation and walked when they saw the road. In the end, they reaped a lot of surprises.

In addition, since there is no air conditioning in the car, in hot weather, you can imagine how hot it is to sit inside. Not only that, but there is no fixed place to sleep.

And that's far from over, and on the way to India, they've been greeted by temperatures of 40 degrees celsius in the Middle East, the cold of the Himalayas, and heavy rain from the Indian monsoon.

That didn't stop Daniel, Fisher, and Kitson from moving forward, though.

"It's a bit crazy, but we can't wait any longer. We look forward to the unexpected and just want to live every day," Fisher said excitedly.

In fact, for this unique trip, he also deliberately quit his job.

Fisher said he really wanted to meet different people and cultures, taste different cuisines, and "there are some very special places in Asia that we all want to see."

Seeing this, Xiaobian had to admire the courage and perseverance of Daniel, Fisher and Kitson. Here, too, we wish them a smooth and safe arrival at their destination, India.
