According to Italian media "Club Doria", Sampdoria has identified Chelsea defender Ampardu as the target of this summer's signing, and he will compete with Spezia to sign him.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Serie A side Venice, making 29 Appearances in Serie A and contributing three assists. He also averaged 2.3 steals, 1.8 interceptions and 2.5 interceptions per game. The outstanding performance became the main defender of Venice.
Ampadul has joined Chelsea from Exeter City since 2017 but has only made 12 first-team appearances. He has been on loan for three seasons, playing for Leipzig, Sheffield United and Venice.
Arpado's contract with the Blues was scheduled to expire last year, but Chelsea signed him a contract until 2024 before signing him on loan to Serie A.
As a result, the Blues will once again put the 21-year-old on loan, with both Spezia and Sampdoria showing interest. Florence is also said to have been interested in bringing in the Welshman this summer, but they did not seriously pursue Ampadhu. Spezia has reportedly formally made a one-year loan request, but Chelsea have yet to decide whether to accept the offer. Still, the Blues are open to another loan spell this summer for the 21-year-old and assess his development before deciding on his long-term future for the club.
With Maya Yoshida and Maniani having left the club, Ampadhu has appeared on their list of reinforcements. The young player's ability to play multiple positions also gives him an edge over other players.
Ampadult can play defensive midfielders, right-backs, left-backs, and his preferred centre-back position. It remains to be seen whether Tuchel will decide to leave the Wales international or add him to next season's squad, with two Italian clubs currently showing keen interest in him.
Considering chelsea have already signed Couribali and are planning to add more defenders, Ampadul has no chance of a place in the Stamford Bridge side. Renting him out is good for everyone.
