The project is located in ismailia province of the Arab Republic of Egypt, 120 km from the capital Cairo, across the Suez Canal, connecting Ismailia Province with the Sinai Peninsula (Asian and African continents). The main project is to build a new 340m span double wing translation railway truss girder bridge on the new canal (the same span and structure as the old bridge), and to strengthen, transform and upgrade the existing bridge on the old canal to a double-track railway, as well as supporting railways, roads, mechanical and electrical and housing construction projects. 1. Project features

The main project of the project is to build a new 340m span biplane translation bridge in the New Suez Canal to open the railway steel truss bridge, which is the first bridge in the world in terms of span and bearing weight of the same type of bridge, and the first bridge on the New Suez Canal; At the same time, it is necessary to upgrade the railway bridge that has been built on the old Suez Canal from single-line train traffic to double-line train traffic, the bridge opening time is shortened from the original 25min to less than 18min, the bridge transformation and upgrading technology is difficult, it is necessary to replace and add welded steel structural components of more than 5000t/3500 pieces, the welding length is more than 20000m, there is no experience to follow in the world, and it is also an exploration and attempt in the history of bridge construction; The project is currently applying for four Guinness World Records.

2. Project difficulties

The railway bridge that has been built on the old Suez Canal has been upgraded from single-line train traffic to double-line train traffic, the bridge opening time has been shortened from the original 25min to less than 18min, the bridge transformation and upgrading technology is difficult, it is necessary to replace and add welded steel structural components of more than 5000t/3500 pieces, the welding length is more than 20000m, and there is no experience to follow in the world.

Bridge structure on the processing, manufacturing, installation accuracy requirements, short construction period requirements, the main mechanical equipment required (rotation, locking device) and steel structure are processed in the country, manufacturing after transportation to the site installation, especially such a large rotation, locking device in the country has no processing, manufacturing precedent, organization and technical difficulties.

During the construction period, the project construction period faced the impact of the global new crown epidemic and the severe situation overseas, the difficulty of organizing the shipping of personnel, materials and equipment, the high safety risk of the epidemic, and the unfavorable factors and difficulties such as high temperature in desert areas, large temperature difference between day and night and perennial sand on installation and welding.

3. Scientific and technological innovation

The new bridge steel structure installation innovation adopts the full section less bracket process, which realizes the synchronous construction of the two wings and the main tower structure, saving more than 1/3 of the construction period from the main tower to the two wings cantilever installation compared with the original design, and at the same time cooperating with the application of the fixture installation method to ensure the reliability and safety of component installation.

The transformation and upgrading of the old bridge is a large number of applications of "[type" section reinforcement + in vitro prestress scheme, while effectively increasing the bearing capacity of the structure, reducing the number of steel structures required for the original "subsidized" steel plate scheme by more than 2,000 tons, and increasing the welding process on the original weld that does not meet the structural requirements, according to the situation, increasing the weld height, changing the single-sided weld to a double-sided weld, increasing the depth of melt, etc., through the comprehensive simulation calculation of structural welding and a large number of process tests to optimize the on-site welding process, To ensure welding quality and structural safety. Relying on the project, we have developed special welding simulation analysis and calculation software, adopted advanced design concepts and fully digital control systems, and realized the automatic operation of bridge opening, locking and monitoring.

In the renovation and upgrading of the old bridge, the synchronous jacking of the whole bridge structure required by the design was completed with the ordinary jacking jack, which greatly reduced the cost input of the synchronous jacking system (jack station) that was originally planned to be used; The combination of electric hanging basket and full hall steel pipe bracket platform solves the need for platform welding of members of different heights, and realizes the simplicity of operation and cost savings; Through cooperation with scientific research institutions and effective analysis and calculation of design and monitoring, under the premise of ensuring that welding deformation is controllable, the simultaneous installation and welding of the main tower area and the replacement and new members of the two wing structures are realized, which effectively shortens the construction cycle.
