US President Joe Biden will arrive in Israel on Wednesday to begin a visit to the Middle East, and the main purpose of Biden's visit is twofold, one is to persuade the Gulf countries to increase oil production, and the other is to bring Israel and Saudi Arabia closer together to deal with the "Iranian threat."
Biden's visit will face questions from Gulf states such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates about his resumption of the Iran nuclear deal, to which he may not be able to answer.
In addition, the Palestinian leadership wants Biden to honor his promise to reopen the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem and to remove the Palestine Liberation Organization from the list of U.S. terrorist organizations, maintain the historical status quo in Jerusalem, and curb Jewish settlement expansion in the West Bank. These questions would also embarrass Biden.
In addition, Biden's visit also faces pressure from Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. Although Biden previously organized a "three-tier three-dimensional" air defense system, it still cannot guarantee absolute safety. Therefore, Saudi Arabia believes that Biden's visit to the Middle East is "very risky".
