On May 7, local time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas issued a statement that the Bahamas has decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine.

The statement said that the Government of the Bahamas upholds the Charter of the United Nations and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and supports the two-State solution.

The statement said that the Bahamas formally recognized the State of Palestine and that the Caribbean Community had reached a consensus on the issue.
