Toulouse, June 29, 2022 – Baku, Azerbaijan-based Silk Road Western Airlines and Airbus signed an agreement to order two A350F freighters. This is the first order for the A350F freighter from the Caspian region. The more efficient and environmentally friendly A350F freighter will help modernize the Silk Road Western Airlines fleet and further expand its fleet size.

Wolfgang Meier, President of Silk Road Western Airlines, said: "We are delighted to have signed an order with Airbus for the first time and will continue to work together in the future. Together today we witnessed a defining moment in the history of Silk Road Western Airlines. I am confident that this new aircraft purchase will bring us success. Based on the A350, a new generation of modern long-range aircraft from around the world, the Airbus A350F freighter features a large main cargo bay, a fuselage length optimized for cargo operations, and a fuselage of more than 70% composed of advanced materials, resulting in a take-off weight reduction of 30 tons. The A350F freighter is equipped with an efficient Rolls-Royce engine that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by at least 20 percent compared to its closest competitors today. With an industry load of 109 tons (3 tons more than competitors and 11% more volume), the A350F freighter serves all cargo markets including express, general cargo, special cargo, etc., and is the only new generation cargo aircraft in the current large cargoer class to meet the new ICAO CO2 emission standards.

The Airbus A350F freighter program, which launched in 2021, has so far received 31 confirmed and committed orders from 6 customers.
