The reason is that Venus has once again issued a microblog that advocates traditional characters and demeans simplified characters.
This well-known style makes people feel less like they are reading Weibo in 2022, but more like they are traveling back to 2012.
Unsurprisingly, Venus quickly overturned because of this remark, and was hit back by the big V netizens, believing that Venus's exaggerated and derogatory remarks were full of slots, and casually citing some counterexamples could be scared back.
Since the beginning of the past few years, mainland entertainment industry entertainers have become a fashion tout traditional characters, and it is true that traditional characters, as an important relic of the mainland's traditional culture, naturally have irreplaceable value. But for many star artists, the touting of traditional characters is nothing more than a "Ye Gong Good Dragon" mentality, most of them only stay in the stage of switching from input methods to traditional costumes, and there are very few who will really write by hand in life and will actually apply them correctly without error.
For example, the actor Jin Dong, who has always regarded himself as an old cadre and intellectual, has always insisted on using traditional characters to send microblogs, but has been found by netizens many times to flip the car with typos.
For an actor like Jiang Xin, he feels that using traditional characters seems "cultured".
But what is interesting is that the entertainment industry loves to use traditional characters to attach elegance to those art students who are half a bucket of water, and the real cultural people like Li Jian and the famous school bully do not care much about these, and even once half-jokingly ironed Jin Dong "love to write traditional characters, some words I don't know."
In the early years, when public knowledge was rampant, Hong Kong and Taiwan culture were strong, and the Republic of China was more controlling network public opinion, big vs. like Venus made a fuss about traditional characters, thus "proving" that Hong Kong and Taiwan that used traditional characters to better preserve traditional culture and that the mainland's invention of simplified characters was harmful to Chinese culture abounded.
However, is the so-called simplified character really invented in mainland China 49 years later to replace traditional characters?
In fact, there have long been statistics by language and writing experts, and among the more than 500 simplified characters commonly used in the mainland at present, 101 have appeared in the Liberated Areas and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the remaining 400 or more simplified words have been popular or existed before liberation. If these more than 400 words are carefully divided, only 60 appear in the Republic of China period, and most of the remaining more than 300 simplified characters have appeared from the Ming and Qing dynasties and even back to the pre-Qin period.
It can be seen that the so-called simplified word was invented after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Moreover, it is undeniable that the literacy rate on the mainland before the founding of the People's Republic of China was only 10%-20% for a long time, and the implementation of simplified characters has undoubtedly made a great contribution to the literacy and universal literacy.
Of course, many people have to question that Hong Kong and Taiwan have not implemented simplified characters in traditional characters, and the literacy rate is not just as high.
However, it should be taken into account that the population of Hong Kong and Taiwan is small, the urbanization rate is high, and the large number of immigrants who have received education from the mainland in the early years, the difficulty of popularizing literacy is not the same as that of the mainland, which has a large number of border and poor areas for young and old.
Moreover, from 49 years ago to 49 years ago, until it retreated to Taiwan in 1949, the Kuomintang authorities have also tried to implement simplified characters more than once, but because they do not have the CCP's strong ability to control the grass-roots level, they can only give up, and as for the Hong Kong and British governments in Hong Kong, they do not have the motivation to popularize simplified characters. It is not that Hong Kong and Taiwan really do not promote simplified characters for the sake of preserving traditions, but they cannot do it. At the same time, in the early years, because the economic and cultural status of Hong Kong and Taiwan was relatively strong compared with that of the mainland, the use of traditional characters could also maintain a sense of cultural superiority between Hong Kong and Taiwan. And many mainlanders also feel that learning hong Kong and Taiwan to use traditional fonts is more "foreign and tall", rather than really liking the traditional culture behind traditional characters.
But the Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia, but without this ideological baggage, used simplified characters like the mainland for practical reasons.
Moreover, feng shui took turns, and now with the improvement of the mainland's economic and cultural status, simplified characters have also been exported to Hong Kong and Taiwan in reverse. In particular, many young students in Taiwan also like to brush the mainland's apps and use simplified characters, which once triggered the glass heart of the Taiwan media.
In particular, many young people in Taiwan have long complained that traditional characters are difficult to write, but they also have to use them because they maintain the so-called traditions, and if they can choose freely, I believe that more people will choose to use simplified characters. And many media public figures in Hong Kong and Taiwan continue to advocate traditional chinese characters, perhaps just to continue to maintain a sense of cultural superiority over the mainland.
In fact, in today's network so developed, there is no need to worry about the demise of traditional characters, as long as a little learning, "recognizing the complex and using simplicity" is not a difficult task. Of course, if it is really out of love for the protection of traditional culture to learn to use the traditional font, naturally there is nothing wrong with it, but also personal freedom. But if you are as elegant as some celebrities, and use traditional characters to show off the so-called cultural design, it can only be a tiger and not an anti-dog!
