Regulations to know before you travel
Since the opening of Singapore and Malaysia and the relaxation of epidemic prevention measures in Singapore, various regulations have changed, and you should pay attention to the following points before traveling to Johor Bahru:
- For fully vaccinated passengers, there is no need for quarantine and no COVID-19 testing before departure or on arrival.

Items to be prepared before traveling

Three Singaporean men were detained in Johor Bahru for 7 days
A few days ago, 3 Singaporean men were detained in Johor Bahru for 7 days and fined RM3,000 (S$942) each for finding their passports unprinted!
A group of 5 people drove from Woodlands Checkpoint into Johor Bahru at around 11am on May 7 and then spent 5 days in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur.
At the end of the trip, one of the men decided to fly back to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur, while the remaining 4 drove back from Johor Bahru. The men who flew did not encounter any problems, but the 4 men driving the car encountered obstacles at the Johor Bahru checkpoint.
At around 4 p.m. on May 11, they were stopped at a customs kiosk by an officer who pointed out that their passports were not stamped for entry into Malaysia. One of the 4 men was Malaysian, so he was allowed to return to his home in Johor Bahru and returned to the checkpoint on May 16 to file a statement.
The other three Singapore PRs were detained for seven days and fined RM3,000 (S$942) each before being released on 17 May.
One man said: "When we retrieved the passports from the customs inspectors, there was no check that they were stamped. ”

Take a cross-border bus
The above is a breakdown of the locations and costs of cross-border buses, and you can choose the nearest pick-up point to your home. Buses accept cashless payments, but note that CW1 will only accept payments from EZLink and Nets Flashpay in June 2022.
You can also take the following SBS buses:
- Route 160 from Jurong East to Johor Bahru
- Route 170 from Queen Street to Johor Bahru Lachin
- Route 170X from Kranji MRT station to Johor Bahru Central Station
SMRT's Cross-Border Bus 950 from Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange Station to Johor Bahru Central Station will also resume service, while Transtar Travel will also resume bus services at TS1, TS3, TS6 and TS8.
By car
Going to Johor Bahru through this mode of transportation is actually not much different from before the epidemic. Customs will check your passport and stamp it with a digital stamp, and the toll will be deducted from your card. It is best to have proof of vaccination ready for examination.
You can also hail a taxi from Queen Street Taxi Terminal, or rent a licensed cross-border taxi from a taxi company like Stredes to take you in.
By plane

After passing through customs, follow this road in the direction of JB Sentral
There are several stalls where you can buy YOUR PHONE card, Maxis, Celcom and Digi are the top 3 telecom companies in Malaysia. Remember to check the prices carefully as some prices are only available for Malaysians and foreigners may have different prices.
You can also exchange Malaysian ringgit at the nearby money changer, and there is one right next to the MOBILE CARD shop, which has a good exchange rate.
After doing this, you can start the long-awaited journey to Johor Bahru
