On the Chobe River on the border between Botswana and Namibia, locals wake up to spot hundreds of dead buffaloes in the river.
Mass deaths
The river flows through Chobe National Park and is an important tourist attraction with many wildlife. There were about 1,000 buffaloes on the Namibian side of the river, but this time two-fifths of them died.
After many visits, botswana's Ministry of Environment finally decided that the culprit was lions, after all, it was not the first time, large-scale buffalo drowning in the Chobe River was actually quite common, but the scale of 400 deaths was unheard of, and the largest collective drowning incident before was about 50 buffalo.
On the night of the crime, the locals heard the roar of many lions, and the clouds that night were very thick, and the Ministry of the Environment suspected that the buffalo could not see clearly, and was directly forced into the Chobe River, and the opposite bank of the river was high and rugged, and the lions were reluctant to let them go, which made the buffalo trample on each other in panic, and after a long time, after experiencing extreme panic, stress and pain, they were all drowned.
Oh my life! There should be many doubts about dying so much in one go, but no one wants to delve deeper, because they have other things to do.
Happy locals
The locals went crazy, believing it to be a gift from nature and claiming that the government had agreed to divide the buffalo, and the bustling crowd gleefully dismembered the buffalo on the banks of the river.
Although the law requires a permit to hold and transport wild meat, no one cares about maintaining law and order in the joy of white prostitution. Even hordes of government officials sneaked out of the office to join the crowd of white prostitutes, and many officials from the police and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism took advantage of their positions to participate in the melee.
Some villagers have robbed more buffaloes, and even sold the whole buffalo for only 100 pula, which is equivalent to about 55 yuan.
Those involved in the meat distribution are reluctant to talk to the media, perhaps fearing that too much will be lost.
Mixed feelings
The nature reserve's vice-president, Leonard Marchley, had mixed feelings. He said that it is true that the people in the protected area have meat to eat, but it is still a huge loss for the protected area.
The most unpleasant thing is that most of the people who come to divide the meat are from other regions, because the scene is too chaotic to identify them.
Leonard Marchley can only suggest that the next time a mass drowning occurs, each family should take only one body with it, because the meat should be given to non-profit organizations such as schools, people with disabilities or nursing homes.
And police and environmental management officers should be on site to manage, not join them.
