【"Peak Mission" Everest Expedition 丨 Highest record 9050 meters! A few days ago, the "Polar Eye One" III type float independently developed by China successfully completed 10 lift-off atmospheric scientific observations, with the highest lift-off to 9050 meters, surpassing Mount Everest, creating a world record for the highest altitude of in situ atmospheric scientific observation of floating boats, and is currently entering the data analysis stage. For the first time in the Everest region, the expedition team obtained a number of valuable data on changes in the high-altitude atmosphere from the surface to the upper troposphere, including meteorological parameters such as stable isotopes of water vapor, black carbon concentration, dust content, methane concentration, carbon dioxide concentration and wind temperature and humid pressure, which provided an important scientific basis for revealing the environmental changes of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau under the influence of westerly wind transmission, and provided a new understanding for the study of the water cycle and carbon cycle process of the Asian water tower.
China's self-developed floating airship Jimu No.1 type III, designed for atmospheric observation as part of China's second scientific research survey of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, reached a record altitude of 9,050 meters in Tibet Autonomous Region in one of its 10 observation missions recently.
The observation apparatus on the airship is mainly used to record atmospheric composition data and the water vapor transmission process in space. The measurement data includes black carbon, dust, carbon dioxide and methane, which are key elements in studying environmental changes on the plateau.
