His name is Huang Tongmin, a native of Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province. Originally, he was engaged in the agricultural materials business and also ran a tea farm. In 2011 he began to turn to large-scale breeding of rabbits. Sichuan people love to eat rabbit meat, and consume 300 to 400 million rabbits a year, accounting for 60% or 70% of the national rabbit meat market. Huang Tongmin raising rabbits is not a big deal. Although the locals like to eat rabbit meat, he chose to raise otter rabbits in the end.
What he values most is the skin of the otter rabbit. Raising otter rabbits for fur, he just encountered a tricky skin problem - rabbit skin ringworm. This was considered light, and the situation at that time was much more serious. With rabbit skin ringworm, the income of raising rabbits has been greatly reduced. Moreover, rabbit skin ringworm is highly contagious and will spread in large areas in rabbit factories. A large number of sick rabbits were all sent to the quarantine area, and the entire rabbit cage became empty.
Rabbits have just been born and are most susceptible to fungal infections. To control rabbit skin ringworm, prevention efforts must be carried out from the moment the rabbit is born.
At first, they used a self-developed herbal water to apply the rabbits. A worker can smear five hundred rabbits a day. However, in winter, applying water can easily cause rabbits to catch a cold. Huang Tongmin finally developed a dry powder agent suitable for rabbits, and the stubborn disease of rabbit skin ringworm was finally overcome.
In order to improve the environment and reduce diseases, the treatment of rabbit feces is a top priority. Huang Tongmin wants to turn rabbit dung into treasure. He processed rabbit manure accumulation into organic fertilizer, increasing income while also improving the environment. However, when they sent the first batch of organic fertilizer to the lily production base to try it, the phenomenon of burning roots and burning buds occurred. Huang Tongmin uses the most conventional technology--- oxygen-consuming fermentation. The operation procedure is no problem, and after consulting experts from many parties, it is known that it is a problem of fermentation bacteria. After changing a special fermentation strain, rabbit manure can be fully fermented and turned into high-quality organic fertilizer.
After the problems of the rabbit farm were solved, Huang Tongmin expanded the scale of breeding, and the total number of rabbits produced in a year reached one million rabbits. In order to further improve efficiency, he built a food processing plant, deep processed rabbit meat, and set his sights on the international market. Huang Tongmin specially developed a condiment for the fishy taste of rabbit meat, which is used to marinate rabbit meat.
In 2013, as the executive vice president of the China Rabbit Industry Association, Huang Tongmin went to Russia with the delegation and signed a big order for cooperation. In just over four years, Huang Tongmin, with innovative thinking, has made small rabbits into a big industry and driven the upgrading of the rabbit industry.
