Also written by Wood You Mind, Texas-based Thai artist Parn Aniwat, a Texas-based Thai artist, has created captivating characters out of wood and decorated them with bright colors and playful costumes. Each unique character, ranging from about four to eight inches tall, has a unique personality, whether it's a sweet face that emerges from an owl costume, a bee sitting in a flower, or a vibrant striped whale. Using traditional tools such as small axes and chisel knives, each piece begins with a rough sketch of the design and then reveals contours and details by cutting through small pieces. The artist then applies vivid acrylic paint that brings the character's sparkling eyes and rosy cheeks to life.
