The yellow-billed egret is a medium-sized wading bird, a national first-class protected animal, currently estimated to have 2600 to 3400 animals worldwide, and more than a dozen have flown to Yuhuan Wetland Park this year to nest in pairs. In the surveillance video, the yellow-billed egret is pulling on the branches to build a love nest, the yellow-billed egret is white throughout, the mouth is orange-yellow, and there are many slender white feathers from the top of the head to the pillow, like the bride's wedding dress, very beautiful.
Since entering the bird breeding season, wild ducks, geese, egrets and other birds have bred in the Yuhuan Xuanmen Bay Wetland Park, but for the yellow-billed egret, it is not easy to "settle down" here. Because it is demanding on the nesting environment, not only has a good ecological environment, but also has a complete food chain and can provide it with sufficient food. It is understood that the yellow-billed egret will continue to move south in July and August after completing incubation and breeding.
In recent years, Yuhuan has increased the protection of wetlands, continuously restored the ecological environment, conserved water sources, protected biodiversity, and bred in the water, plankton, plants and a wide variety of fish and shrimp have been proliferated in large quantities, which has also created favorable conditions for various birds to inhabit and breed here.
