How Haiti, a country trump has called a "dung pit," has made itself the poorest in the Western Hemisphere

Haiti, freed from French colonial rule in 1804 and the first to become independent in Latin America, is now the poorest country in the entire Western Hemisphere. There have been 33 coups d'état in the 218 years of independence, with an average of one regime change every six and a half years, the first in the world.

The average life expectancy is only 47 years, three out of four people are illiterate, and 80% of the country's population is unemployed. With 98 per cent of forests cut down and soil erosion severe, natural disasters are frequent, and the poor in slums are still hungry with spit cakes. Why does a Latin American country have an excellent matching mechanism for the African region?

Haiti's poverty and chaos are more exaggerated than you think, Haiti is located in the Caribbean Sea, rich in gold, with excellent natural resources, 200 years ago was the richest country in the Caribbean, known as the beacon of Latin America, but today it has become the worst developed country in Latin America, living on the relief of the countries of the world, named "International Beggar".

What magical realities would you feel if you lived in Haiti? Let's take stock: First, wages, more than 80% of Haitians are unemployed vagrants, with a per capita monthly salary of 60 euros, where the gap between rich and poor is extremely large, and a very small number of people hold the vast majority of assets. In the middle of the last century, Haiti had assets of $1 billion, and the president alone owned 900 million.

Because of extreme poverty and no employment, many people rely on selling blood for a living, the country collects five tons of new blood plasma every month, charters flights to Europe and the United States, if you die of disease, you will be bought for $3, and the body will be sold to the American Biochemistry Laboratory.

Second, traffic, Haiti's buses are mostly scrapped school buses in the United States, each driving more than a million kilometers, brake failure and fire out at any time occurs from time to time, narrow carriages will pour into 60 people, often each car will be equipped with a special car repair master, with the bad repair, while repairing while walking, because there are not several auto repair shops in the country, so the standard configuration of the bus is not the driver plus the conductor, but the driver plus the repair car master.

Most of Haiti's roads are gravel and dirt roads, 90% of the roads are not in good condition, many of the roadsides are cliffs, and the 80-kilometer road often takes two days to drive. Not only that, this luxury bus fare is as high as 15 euros, if you feel too expensive, you can buy a hanging ticket, sitting on the roof of the car for only 8 euros, economical, convenient to jump the car.

3. Medical treatment. Most of Haiti's rivers are polluted and infectious diseases are rife. Because Haitians are too poor and often sell blood for a living, AIDS is rampant, with a prevalence rate of 5.6 per cent, the highest in the Americas. There are only eight doctors on average for every 100,000 people, and only one bed for every 10,000 people.

The only option for ordinary people to get sick is witch doctors. These sticks usually charge low medical fees, dance the song and dance performance, and replace them with a pair of evil soup medicines, but the patient is convinced of this. As a result, life expectancy in Haiti is only 47 years.

Fourth, eat soil, Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince has the world's highest density of slums, there is no clean drinking water, a tap to meet the domestic water of 3,000 people, the people are so poor that they can only eat soil to fill their hunger. A montmorillonite clay is produced here. Some traders dig up the soil and smash it into powder, sift through the stones, and add a small amount of salt and butter to make a sheet of earth cake.

This kind of earth cake will stick to the stomach wall after being eaten into the stomach, and it will swell many times after absorbing water, giving people a strong feeling of fullness. Haitians also know that if they eat too much, they will die, but if they don't eat, they will die. Why is Haiti, once rich, so poor today?

More than 200 years ago, because the climate on the island of Haiti was ideal for growing sugar cane and coffee, it was home to 1/3 of the black slaves in the Western Hemisphere, who were abused here, and 100,000 blacks died at the hands of whites. Black slaves fought back in Haiti and even defeated Napoleon's fleet.

Because of the persecution of whites, they began to severely racially discriminate, believing that only black people of pure blood were the most noble, because they were all black slaves, and black people of pure blood were not educated, their ability to govern the country was extremely poor, and there were even tyrants who ate people.

Until 1957, under the supervision of the United States, a respected Haitian doctor Duvalier was successfully elected president, claiming to establish a clean government, but after coming to power this time, he actually formulated a cult and gangster management model, which carried forward the voodoo cult brought by the natives of West Africa, and the self-appointed "high priest" of Haiti began to sacrifice alive without a word, which made the whole country panic.

He also claimed that his wizards had mastered a magic trick called "soul reparation", which could turn the living into soulless zombies and work endlessly. This idea was later adopted directly by the film company, giving birth to what we know as the "zombie movie". When people reacted and looked away, uprisings began to break out everywhere.

Duvalier gathered Haitian thugs to form an organization called "Tumakut", which translates to "Man-Eating Demon King". These people wear masks, are extremely vicious, never ask the president for a salary, and rob when they are short of money. The Haitian army at the time was only 5,000 men, while Duvalier's private gangs numbered 9,000 men, killing tens of thousands during his reign.

Life expectancy in Haiti was less than 33 years at this time, and after Duvalier's death, his 19-year-old son, Du, took over the evil order and was elected president. This baby fat became the youngest president in the world, there is no most bizarre, only more bizarre, the small belly is more than the old Du, and the Haitian tyrant 2.0 era has officially begun.

Looking at his appearance, he knew that he must be very clever, more than the "zombie king" father knew how to scrape people's fat, he first implemented compulsory blood donation, five tons of Haitian plasma was sold every month, and also sold the body of Haiti to the American research laboratory for autopsy, a body sold for only three dollars, the city's rails were torn down to sell scrap iron, in order to make money is also to do everything.

The WTO donated $22 million to Haiti, and Xiao Du directly embezzled 2,000. In such a destitute country, Xiao Du squeezed out $900 million and embezzled 90% of Haiti's assets. In Haiti at the time, 87 per cent of infants were malnourished, and each person received only $3.44 in medical care and $3.70 in education in their lifetime. Most of the country is illiterate, only one out of ten primary school students can go to junior high school, and the vast majority of them have never attended primary school.

In order to maintain his rule, Xiao Du built a bunch of prisons, 35 times the number of middle schools. In 1986, people who were fed up with the magic rule finally couldn't bear it anymore and took to the streets to overthrow Xiao Du, and on the day of the uprising, the crowd carried a coffin to put the small belly in it, and also cut open Lao Du's grave. Xiao Du is worthy of being a big smart, he knows that when he does bad things, he will be pickpocketed by people, so he has already secretly moved the grave to Old Du and fled to France himself.

In the 15 years since Mr. Xiao's ouster, Haiti has been a dictatorship, coup and anarchy, with 20 presidents replaced in a row, an average of one every year and nine months. The country was in turmoil, and even in 1991, photographers filmed mobs killing opponents on the streets of Haiti, barbecuing in the streets, laughing and cutting human flesh with a knife and swallowing it.

In 2010, haiti struck a major earthquake that killed more than 200,000 people and left countless people homeless, and local officials were still embezzling, taking directly from countries around the world to pay the refugees a price. For many years, Haiti's pillar industry has been international aid, and the United Nations has accumulated $8 billion, even if it is divided equally, each Haitian can get nearly 5,000 yuan, but the ordinary people in Haiti are still destitute.

The UN Security Council finally couldn't bear it anymore and held a video conference on Haiti in February 2021 to condemn the Haitian president's inaction, and Haitian President Jophner actually said that Haitians did not have enough to eat because international assistance was not enough, and the United Nations sent people to help Haiti maintain order, which was interfering in Haiti's internal affairs. Five months later, Jophneer was shot by thugs in his private home, 12 shots in a row and killed on the spot, ironically, none of the security guards around him were injured.

As early as 1915, the United States occupied Haiti, imposed military rule, coerced the people to labor by force, brutally killed countless Haitians, and supported many puppet regimes like the Duvalier family. They don't care whether Haitians live or die, they only want to manage money in this land, even if they can't squeeze out the oil and water, they won't give up. In addition to U.S. interference in Haiti, Haitian top-down egoism is also a source of poverty and chaos in the country.

The tiny country has divided into 76 armed criminal gangs, and in the 2006 presidential election, there were as many as 1,300 candidates, the bottom draws knives at the weaker, the rulers are corrupt and infighting, and the people are fishing. Today's sea, the first is full of ruins, full of garbage, some people do not have enough to eat, and some people live in luxury villas.

On the streets, rioters armed with large knives and guns are often seen fighting in the daytime, mothers who have lost their children crying bitterly, people with better financial ability just want to leave Haiti, and many people are crowded in refugee camp-like prisons. Unaccustomed to the inaction of the Haitian authorities, some young people spontaneously took to the streets to protect the people, shouting slogans and putting their arms around their children and telling him to change Haiti.

But no one can be sure that these people who claim to protect them will become the next tyrant, and who is responsible for Haiti's poverty and chaos today?
