"Beyond" takes the successful bid of Beijing to host the 2022 Winter Olympics in 2015 as the historical background, telling the story of the roller skating girl Chen Mian (Li Gengxi) who decided to take short track speed skating as her career goal in the wave of the "North Ice South Exhibition", from a non-professional player, all the way through the barriers, and finally entered the national team to become the main player, went to the Winter Olympics and won glory for the country.
In the play, Hu Jun played Chen Mian's father, Chen Jingye, a retired athlete of the short track speed skating national team, who fought hard to win China's first gold medal, but regrettably stopped at the selection before the Winter Olympics. At first, his father was not optimistic about Chen Mian's "female inheritance of the father's business", so Chen Mian was estranged from his father. The show shows the new Iceman in the form of a group portrait. The Iceman is not just an athlete on the field, but also a volunteer, a host of the Winter Olympics, and a national entrepreneur.
