Pi Hongyan, who once ranked No. 2 in the world's badminton women's singles, played a career "farewell battle" at the 2012 London Olympics, and now she is busy with what?

On the court, Pi Hongyan (41 years old), who is praised for his physical ability of "running undead", was born in Wansheng, Chongqing, China, a French Chinese, and now lives in France.

During the Chinese national team, the coach believed that Pi Hongyan was only 164cm tall and the future of development would not be very big, and always wanted to return her to the provincial team, Pi Hongyan had to go to Europe to play, and won many honors after joining the French national team, including the bronze medal in the 2009 World Championships, the silver medal in the European Championships and the world tour championship, and the world ranking reached no. 2.

Pi Hongyan enjoys being a coach

After retiring, Pi Hongyan began her coaching career, and worked as a player and coach in Bordeaux, and also assisted the French Badminton Association to hold training camps to cultivate more French women's singles players.

Pi Hongyan said that after retiring from retirement, her whole body was also released, because she also experienced injuries in the past 2 years.

Recently, Pi Hongyan was interviewed by the official website of the World Badminton Federation and talked about the past, present and future.

When I came back to college that year, I was holding my stomach

Immediately after playing the London Olympics, I went back to school, and from September of that year, I took a sports management course in Marseille, when I was pregnant, so I went to class on my stomach.

After finishing my studies, I worked as a coach at a local club and also helped the French Badminton Association to hold some women's singles camps, and in 2015 I welcomed another little life, that year I gave birth to a daughter, so I stopped again to take care of the children wholeheartedly.

In fact, I didn't really stop from badminton, and after giving birth to my second child, I also played for a club for several months.

Developing women's singles players is keen to hold training camps

Last year I started a program of the French Badminton Association, and our consensus is to develop some women's singles players, so we run 5 training camps every year, and the training camps are held during the holidays.

We recruited women's singles players from all over France to join the camp; my husband, a national surf instructor in France, runs out more often than I do, and I have to accommodate the time spent taking care of the kids. But I've always been happy to be able to get into badminton.

I enjoy sharing it with other players and I enjoy playing club games, I've been playing for Bordeaux since 2006 and until last year, I had to stop because I couldn't hold my knees.

The BWF invited me and Pedro Yang to be the athletes of the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympics, it was a very interesting experience, and I think it was also a good experience for young athletes because they could be exposed to different scenes.

This reminds me of a coaching course I hosted with Xu Huaiwen (German Badminton Women's Singles) in Glasgow in 2017, which was mainly an analysis of women's singles, but also a very interesting experience, we can exchange views and opinions with coaches around the world, and listen to the comments and opinions of doubles coaches.

I still miss the game and dream of playing

The first year after I retired, I was very relaxed because for the last 2 years I had a lot of pain in my body, I also had knee surgery and it was nice to stop from playing and try something else. I also plan to continue my studies and meet different new challenges. In France, I have to put in more effort,

Until 2 or 3 years ago, I started to miss badminton, I also began to think about playing, I also began to dream about myself playing a game, I also tracked the game on the Internet, so that I felt like I was playing on the field.

The new level of technology is high, they run tirelessly

Speaking of today's women's singles, frankly I'm very interested in catching up because you don't know which player will win? Many of the players are on the same level, and the number of players is large.

The style of women's singles is full of flowers, and it is really interesting to analyze, they have too many different styles of play, there are running, defensive, offensive... Some of the players also have a lot of different techniques, and they also incorporate the techniques of the men's singles players, and you can see that they can make a series of jumps, intercept them to the defense, and then get back into the game.

To me, the techniques are innovative and the level is high because the players are in good physical condition, they can run tirelessly, you can look at the final in Glasgow, it was a tug-of-war.

The current women's singles player, I think Okuhara Hope (Japan) plays very similarly to me, she is physically better than me, zhang Beiwen is also; they are very flexible.
