The Central and East Africa branch of China Geological Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Zhongdi Corporation) undertook the construction of 200 wells aided by China in Rwanda, and all hand-pressurized and solar wells were installed with chlorination systems to keep the water clean and ready to drink. In addition to the villagers' domestic water, the project can also help farmers irrigate.
Known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills," Rwanda sits above the equator and is surrounded by East African states such as Congo, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.
In rural Rwanda, it is not easy to complete a well drilling project. Drilling teams not only have to try to solve the problem of transporting large machinery, but also often face complex geological drilling situations, as well as responding to diseases such as COVID-19 and malaria.
At the end of April 2022, the 200 well assistance project dedicated to solving the problem of water shortage in Rwanda successfully passed the acceptance test and has been delivered to the local people, solving the drinking water problem of at least 110,000 people.
