"Peak Mission" Everest Scientific Expedition | Conduct a Comprehensive "Physical Examination" of Glaciers and Pollutants

At noon on May 4, the members of the mainland Everest expedition team successfully reached the summit and used high-precision radar for the first time to measure the thickness of ice and snow at the summit. This is the first time that the scientific expedition of Mount Everest on the mainland has exceeded the altitude of more than 8,000 meters, which is of epoch-making significance in the history of scientific investigation and research on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

On May 1, the Glacier and Pollutants Expedition Team advanced into the East Rongbu Glacier and carried advanced scientific instruments to conduct a comprehensive "physical examination" of the glacier. It is reported that the glacier and pollutant research detachment will cover the high-altitude area from Mount Everest Base Camp to the East Rongbu Glacier to carry out a one-month scientific expedition, mainly to complete the pollutant monitoring, the monitoring of changes in the Rongbu Glacier and glacial lakes, and the monitoring of greenhouse gas fluxes in rivers and lakes.

On May 1, 2022, the Glacier and Pollutants Expedition team trekked to the East Rongbu Glacier area.

"Peak Mission 2022 - Comprehensive Scientific Expedition and Research on the Extremely High Altitude Area of Mount Everest" was attended by 16 scientific expedition teams from 5 scientific expedition teams and a total of more than 270 scientific expedition team members. This is a comprehensive scientific expedition with the widest subject coverage, the largest number of participants, and the most advanced instruments and equipment since the launch of the comprehensive scientific expedition on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in 2017. The "Peak Mission" Everest scientific expedition will for the first time break through the altitude of more than 8,000 meters and complete the comprehensive scientific investigation task of the summit of Mount Everest, which is a feat of human beings to carry out extremely high altitude comprehensive scientific investigation and research in the Everest region.
