Belgrade Zoo, where one of the alligators "Muja" is the world's oldest captive alligator, and this year the amazing crocodile has reached the age of 85.

The exact time of Muja's birth is unclear, but the creature was transferred to the zoo in 1937 and is already an adult, so this means that the alligator may be over 85 years old, but unfortunately we don't have exact numbers.

Muja was a lucky crocodile because it almost died twice during World War II, when the city was bombed twice and the zoo was almost completely destroyed, thankfully the crocodile was unharmed; similarly, NATO bombed the area in the 1990s, but Muja also survived.

The crocodile also passed by death in 2012, when one of its legs was sick and needed to be amputated, and it was alive and well after surgery because of its age and we provided food. So it no longer needs to hunt.

It entered the Guinness Book of World Records on May 22, 2018, at the age of 80, and when the record holder died, it became the longest-lived crocodile in existence.

Muja is one of them, and the average lifespan of the American alligator is 30 to 50 years, so the animal has exceeded an impressive range.

We're not sure if the crocodile will be over 100 years old, but there's a Nile crocodile named Henry who's older and still survives to 120 at the Crocodile World Conservation Centre in South Africa.
