The upcoming Bellator 280 tournament in Paris, France, on March 6, in which Dutch star Melvin Manhoef withdrew from the tournament due to an injury in the hand of catching thieves, is now confirmed to be substituted by Alex Polizzi of the United States against Cuban wrestling champion Yoel Romero.

Alex Politz (10-1, 3 K, 5 S) is 30 years old and has a height of 183cm with an arm span of 183cm. He began to participate in amateur MMA competitions in 2016 and achieved (5-0) amateur results in 2017. He began his professional MMA career in 2018, won the LFA championship in 2020, joined the Bellator tournament with a (6-0) result in 2020, and has achieved a (4-1) result at Bellator so far. He beat Rafael Carvalho on his debut before losing to Julius Anglickas for the first time in his career. He recently won three straight, having just surrendered Jose Augusto Azevedo in the third leg in March.

Yule Romero (13-6, 11 K, 0 S) is 45 years old and has a height of 178cm with an arm span of 185cm. Born in freestyle wrestling, he won the World Championships and a silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games. He began his professional MMA career in 2009, joined the UFC tournament in 2013 with a (4-1) result, and after playing an eight-game winning streak at the UFC, he lost to former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in 2017, and after KO Luke Rockhold in the third set in February 2018, he again challenged former UFC champion Whitaker in June to regret the decision to lose. In 2019, he lost points to Paulo Costa, and in 2020, he lost points to challenge UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and once again missed the golden belt. Joining Bellator last year, the September game was decided to lose to Phil Davis for four straight career losses.

The headline main event of the day was the Bellator Heavyweight Championship Tournament, with current champion Ryan Bader (29-7, 12 K, 3 S, 1 N) playing against challenger homegrown veteran Cheick Kongo (31-11-2, 15 K, 3 S, 1 N).
