18-year-old boy, 200 meters – 19.49 seconds!

On April 30, at the LSU Invitational Athletics Tournament in the United States, 18-year-old American boy Knighton ran 19.49 seconds (+1.4m/s) in 200 meters, becoming the fourth person in history and setting a world youth U20 record. Second place Joseph Fahnbulleh ran for 19.92 seconds.

Erriyon Knighton was born on January 29, 2004. Last year, he broke the 200m World Junior U18 Best and World Junior U20 records. At the Tokyo Olympics, at the age of 17, he finished fourth with 19.93 seconds.

Prior to this year, he competed in several 100m races, scoring 10.04 seconds (-0.1m/s) of 100m PB on April 16.

The campaign ran 19.49 seconds, which was his 2022 debut 200 meters, becoming the fourth person in history. The first three were Bolt, Blake and Michael Johnson, whose PB was 19.19 seconds, 19.26 seconds and 19.32 seconds.

On April 30, at the Gaborone International Meet athletics race in Botswana, 18-year-old homegrown rising star Letsile Tebogo ran 9.96 seconds (+1.9m/s) in the men's 100m battle, setting a national record and a world youth U20 record.

Born on June 7, 2003, this guy won the 100m and 200m runners-up of the World Youth Championships last year.
