On April 28th, the interview group of the network theme activity of "Striving for Spring, Rural Revitalization and Dongfeng Jin" came to the Baishui Apple Experimental Station of Northwest A&F University of Science and Technology in Baishui County. Founded in 2005, the Whitewater Apple Experimental Station covers an area of 160 acres, and has planned and built field experiment demonstration functional areas such as apple germplasm resource garden, variety selection and breeding area, cultivation test area, seedling breeding area, new varieties and new technology demonstration and display area.
According to Gao Hua, the station manager, the Whitewater Experimental Station is the first off-campus experimental station built in Xinong in other places, the first professional apple test demonstration station in China, and a new model for exploring the promotion of science and technology cooperation between schools and land. Since 2005, the Xinong Apple Test Station has been rooted in Baishui County for 17 years, 17 years of arduous exploration, 17 years of wholehearted research and development, and the test station is writing the story of science and technology to change rural development and promote rural revitalization on the land of Baishui.
In recent years, there is a saying among white fruit farmers called "apple seeds three rui, the benefits doubled". The "three Rui" said by the fruit farmer refers to the Ruiyang, Ruixue and Ruixianghong series of apple varieties. This series of varieties was cultivated by Professor Zhao Zhengyang, chief expert of the Whitewater Apple Experimental Station. The name is rich in the meaning of "Ruixue Mega Year, Ruiyang Sends Auspicious, Ruixiang Red Furui Zhonghua". Among them, the skin of Ruixue fruit is green, the fruit surface is smooth, the flesh is fine and crisp, the sweet and sour is delicious, and the storage resistance is high; Ruiyang has a bright color and good taste; Ruixiang has a rich aroma, sweet and sour taste, excellent quality, and high commodity rate. These three kinds of apples are all new varieties of high-quality apples with completely independent intellectual property rights in the mainland.
According to local fruit farmers, "Sanrui" apples have good taste, high appearance and high yield, ordinary Fuji sells for 3 yuan, and the price of "Sanrui" can be sold up to 9 yuan, so that fruit farmers can get rich and increase income, and "Sanrui" apples can also be rapidly promoted.
On April 28, at the Whitewater Apple Experimental Station, the interview group met Professor Zhao Zhengyang, who cultivated the "Sanrui" apple. Referring to apples and rural revitalization, Zhao Zhengyang said that the seed industry is the chip of agriculture, and breeding technology is the core of rural revitalization. As far as the apple industry is concerned, to make the countryside rich and to let the people live a happy and stable life, it depends on science and technology. "So we have spent decades cultivating Ruiyang, Ruixue and Ruixianghong, which are apples that we have cultivated independently."
For a long time, more than 90% of the apple varieties in the mainland have been imported from abroad, and there are very few independent varieties. The "Sanrui" apple cultivated by Professor Zhao Zhengyang has been widely recognized through practice in the land of Baishui County. From the decades of xinong experts to develop new achievements, to Cao Xiehu and other first farmers to bear economic risks to try seeds, to Lin Qiufang as the representative of farmers to promote large-scale and intelligent planting, Baishui County and Xinong Whitewater Apple Experimental Station are mutual achievements. Today, in the core area of apples in Baishui County, the planting area of "Sanrui" apples has exceeded 100,000 mu. The output value of the whole industrial chain of apples in Baishui County exceeds 11 billion yuan. This is the embodiment of the efforts of the mainland apple variety breeding technical team for decades. Yang Jie of the National Apple Engineering Technology Research Center pointed out that in 2021, there are more and more varieties of excellent apples with significant sales effects, and the list includes Ruixue and Ruixianghong.
Zhao Zhengyang said that the significance of the promotion of planting in "Sanrui" is to let China's fruit farmers plant their own apples, so that China's chinese people can eat good apples with national names. Today, in the cooperation between the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry Science and Technology University and the Baishui County Party Committee and County Government, around the apple-led industry in the county economy, Baishui County is training 10 provincial high-level professionals, 100 county-level fruit industry technical backbones, 1,000 farmer technicians, and 10,000 village-level tree planting experts represented by Professor Zhao Zhengyang. With science and technology as the force, starting from the breeding technology of Xinong, Baishui County has poured the strength of the whole county to extend the chain and supplement the chain to create an apple industry cluster, and to create a demonstration area for the whole industrial chain of apples in China.
