According to northern Shan State, at about 10 a.m. on April 28, the Lashio TaxAtion Authority destroyed the seized smuggled food. The food destroyed was worth 73534700 Kyats and more than 20 kinds, and the destruction ceremony was carried out by the Hot Water Pond Checkpoint resident of the Lashio Taxation Bureau.
At the smuggled food destruction ceremony, officials from the Hot Water Pond Checkpoint Tax Administration, lashio General Affairs Administration, Lashio Tax Administration, Consumer Management Department and Food and Drug Regulatory Administration (FDA) attended the ceremony.
According to the news, the food destroyed was seized between October 2021 and March 2022. All along, the hot water pond checkpoint has seized a large number of smuggled untaxed food and rough jade every year. Up to now, the Lashio County Taxation Bureau has held nearly 20 smuggled goods destruction operations.
Since the reopening of the hot water pond comprehensive checkpoint in mid-March 2016, the seized smuggled goods have been transported to the Lashio Tax Bureau for destruction to avoid smuggled goods from flowing into the market. Although the anti-smuggling department has been working, because of the unique geographical conditions of Shan State, frozen products still flow into the domestic market, and the public must pay more attention when buying and eating.
