Prophet Jeremiah
Hello everyone! Today I would like to introduce the marble statue "Prophet Jeremiah", created by the Italian renaissance sculptor Donatello between 1423 and 1426, located in the northern shrine of giotto's bell tower in Florence, Italy.
Born in 1386 and died in 1466, Donatello was an early Italian Renaissance sculptor and painter.
The admiration and reference of classical art can be said to be a common feature of Renaissance Italian artists.
Donatello had spent a lot of energy to study ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, but he did not blindly imitate, but was good at innovating on the basis of inheriting the classical sculptural art, and in his lifetime, he created a large number of vibrant, solemn and calm sculptures.
He did not seem to be satisfied with understanding the human body only from ancient statues, but together with other artists, began to use real people to model his works, studying the various postures and human structure of the figures, and the Prophet Jeremiah was completed with models.
