"Father of Sonic" Yuji Naka sued Square Enix

Last year, Hiroshi Nakamoto, known as the "father of Sonic," LinkedIn page showing his departure from Square Enix, but he did not disclose the reasons and details of his departure at the time.

In recent days, there has been an update on the development of the matter, Yuji Naka said that he had filed a lawsuit against Square Enix earlier, and now that the trial is over, he can finally explain the details.

Yuji Naka mentions that he was removed from his position as game supervisor by Square Enix six months before the release of Baran's Whimsical Wonderland, and was not allowed to comment on the game until the end of the game's development. So he filed a lawsuit against the company at that time.

As for why he was dismissed by Square Enix, Yuji Naka mentioned that there were two main reasons.

First, he insisted on releasing the game's original soundtrack and did not agree to the marketing campaign by a Youtuber to adapt the music, and the second was that he told the developer Arzest that the game still needed to be polished, but the developer Arzest did not think so, which affected his relationship with Arzest.

In simple terms, the contradiction focuses on Yuji Naka's belief that Square Enix and Arzest don't care about the quality of the game and the fan base.

Yuji Naka also apologized on Twitter to fans who purchased the semi-finished "Balaam's Whimsical Wonderland", "I am very ashamed to let the semi-finished "Balaam's Whimsical Wonderland" go on sale."

He combined his experience with Sonic, which was still being revised two weeks before its release, to illustrate his development philosophy: game developers should try to improve the game even at the last minute. But Square Enix stopped him from doing so. Zhongyuji had asked a lawyer to try to negotiate, but to no avail, and in the end he could only take the method of going to court.
