Stallone, Schwarzenegger "Tough Guy" assembled, 5 European and American action movies worth revisiting in the 90s

author:BLTON Blackstone Audiovisual

In the 1990s, many iconic "tough guy" movies were born in Europe and the United States, such as "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", "Rogue Line", "Life and Death Speed" and so on. Today's film market is still happy with this theme, and while it is still a pleasure for many fans, excessive clichés are inevitably tiresome. The lack of a new film market makes people nostalgic for the past, and here are the 5 classic action movies of the 90s that the editor believes are the most worth revisiting:

Dragon Crossing (1993)

"Dragon Crossing"

The film tells the story of a policeman who does not handle the routine case, John Sparry (Stallone), and the murderer "Iron Phoenix" (Wesley Snipes) who continue their cop game after more than 30 years of freezing. The film imagines a seemingly utopian 2032, when violence is almost non-existent, face-to-face communication will be censored, and Taco Bell is the only restaurant to go to.

Life and Death Speed 2: Thrills at Sea (1997)

Life and Death Speed 2: Thrill at Sea

Released in 1994, The Speed of Life and Death is about SWAT Officer Jack (Keanu Levis) trying to save passengers on a bus that is planted by retired police officer Payne (Dennis Hopper) with a bomb that explodes at less than 50 miles per hour. However, the sequel "Life and Death Speed 2: Thrills at Sea" is rarely mentioned. The film essentially repeats the concept of the previous part, but setting the scene on a luxury cruise ship and replacing Levi's with Jason Patrick, cleverly creating a sense of excitement and also showing proper humor, is still a masterpiece.

Stargate (1994)

Stargate

Given its grand storyline potential and its creative renaissance on the movie screen, Stargate is the bible of some sci-fi films set in the same universe about interstellar, including the most famous Stargate SG-1. In the film, Colonel Jack O'Neal (Kurt Russell) and archaeologist Daniel Jackson (James Spide) lead an expedition through a strange, ancient device that transports them to a primitive alternative dimension, with many of the same bridges that will be seen in Roland Emmerich's film. (Independence Day 2: The Comeback, 2012, etc.)

The Tornado (1996)

Tornado

There's no better disaster action movie about tornadoes than Tornado! It's a classic '90s action movie by director Jane de Bonter, where Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton play a class of scientists who "dance with dragons" and even though they divorced in the show, Bill has found a new lover, but out of an obsession with tornado research, they decide to chase an Oklahoma hurricane together.

While its Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects looks slightly underdone today, the plot, character motivations, and weird laughs aren't outdated.

Phantom Heroes (1993)

Phantom Heroes

When it comes to classic action comedies, I have to mention Phantom Heroes. The film tells the story of the little boy Danny who enters the movie world of the action hero Jack after getting a magical movie ticket, and the movie ticket is accidentally obtained by the bad guy Benedict, who uses the movie ticket to enter the real world to prepare for the conspiracy, and Jack and Danny return to the real world to stop the plot.

It's a film that has been controversial both critically and commercially, but it shouldn't be, perhaps with concern about seeing Schwarzenegger and Die Hard Cinema director John McTien appear on the gig without realizing it's a clichéd parody of action movies. But its wonderful picture is especially worth getting a second chance.
