After this news came, many people were surprised, others are 5nm, 3nm, but now you are targeting 28nm, is the real strength smaller? But in fact, not only Russia, but also the country seemed to be like this.
After TSMC can not OEM, we also began to want to establish their own chip industry chain, but want to bypass those so-called restrictions, want to achieve a complete industrial chain of our own, whether in equipment or technology or materials, it is difficult to achieve a complete supply, basically a bit like the barrel principle, either this plate is high or that plate is low. At this time, many academicians in China said that 28nm is enough, and even do not have to catch up, and now look at TSMC and Samsung's 3nm, this idea is right?

Just around April 27, there is news that TSMC's 3nm chip has come to the news, from the news can be seen that TSMC's 3nm chip will be produced in the second half of this year, and next year or will achieve mass production, and the 2nm process is also on the road (is expected to achieve mass production in 2025), its 3nm first customers or will be Apple and Intel.
And Samsung is the same, has begun to prepare for the 3nm thing.
If in the previous state, Apple and Huawei are TSMC's big customers, and mobile phones are 5nm chips.
But now look at it, TSMC sent 3nm news, but also Apple in it, not Huawei.
What about our country? In fact, to be honest, some time ago Huawei just said that it will use the "chip superposition" method to obtain a breakthrough in performance, and in terms of technology, China is still adding 28nm.
Although SMIC has equaled the 14nm level in the industry at this time last year, and even been exposed to have mastered the technology of the 7nm process, due to some limitations, the advanced lithography machine has not been introduced, so the matter about 7nm is also missing.
On the contrary, it seems that from the end of 2020, SMIC began to expand the production line of 28nm chips in Beijing, Shanghai and other places, and its investment was more than 100 billion.
Then someone may say, isn't this just doing what someone else does to do the rest? Isn't that unenterprising?
But is this really the case?
As said at the beginning, Russia also began to build its own production line after experiencing the supply cut, but its local level is currently 90nm, so it set the goal of 28nm in the back, indicating that 28nm itself is also a dividing line.
Second, there is the problem of the market. According to IC Insights data, 28nm chips currently account for up to 50% of the global chip market, which is half of the market share.
In addition, in recent years, due to the lack of cores, especially in the automotive field, many companies have begun to reduce production or even stop production, and the chips they need are not those 5nm, 3nm chips, 28nm is enough.
Therefore, such a large market is still worth grasping, and only by standing firm can we realize the next step.
