Because the Russian army has canceled the strong attack on the Azov steel plant, it has chosen to use the tactic of encirclement without attack to force the remnants of the Azov battalion to surrender. Of course, for the Azov battalion, when it saw the main Russian army withdrawing, it was delusional and lucky. Unexpectedly, the Russian army still deployed 6 battle groups on the outskirts of the steel plant.
This is not good news for the members of the Azov battalion, after all, before the withdrawal of the main Russian army, the destruction of the food warehouse in the Azov steel plant means that the Azov battalion will face a situation of running out of ammunition in the future. However, it is also reported that the steel plant has 6 floors of underground passage, which has been about 8 years since the Russian army and the Wudong armed forces continued to confront each other for 2 months in 2014. During these 8 years, the Azov battalion continued to improve the storage of the underground passage, such as ammunition and food, so that in the early days of the Azov battalion's retreat to the steel mill, the underground passage did have sufficient ammunition and food. However, at present, there are about 2,000 remnants of the Azov steel plant, including foreign mercenaries and, more importantly, 500 wounded and more than 1,000 civilians, which means that the daily food consumption is very large.
Therefore, the Azov battalion will naturally find the opportunity to carry out the "Jedi Counterattack", otherwise there will be no more chances. Moreover, the Azov battalion did not adopt the tactic of frontal breakthrough, but used the underground passages in all directions to launch an attack on the Russian army, which can be called a "tunnel warfare". More importantly, the site of the Azov battalion's attack was not the Azov Steel Plant, but the coastal port of Mariupol, where a Udong armed force was attacked by a grenade, causing many casualties. In addition, the Azov battalion also launched an attack on the Russian 810th Marine Brigade stationed in the port, and how the Azov battalion arrived at the port also made the Russian soldiers very confused.
So, is it possible to assume that the Azov Steel Plant and the Ilyich Steel Plant, as well as near the port, are interconnected, otherwise how to explain that the remnants of the Azov Steel Plant can evade the surveillance of the Russian military deployed in the air drones? Therefore, the outside world is very suspicious, the Azov battalion discovered this secret passage and successfully launched an attack on the Russian army. If this is the case, it is troublesome, because the Russian army has already launched a Tu-22M supersonic strategic bomber to bomb the Azov Steel Plant. Now it seems that after a week of bombardment, the Russians were unable to crush the remnants of the Azov battalion.
Now seeing that the main force of the Russian army has retreated, the Azov battalion wants to take advantage of the opportunity, but after this attack, the Russian army will definitely strengthen patrols and at the same time focus on the location of the Azov battalion. This does not rule out the possibility that the Russian army will really seal all the entrances and exits with cement. This means that the Azov battalion wants to break through from the horse market, which is no less than a fool's dream. However, it seems unlikely that the Russian army will want to take Mariupol in the short term, so the horse market may enter a stalemate stage again.
