After liberation, they also yearned for a new life, but the closed living environment made them unable to get out of the predicament, a large number of fruits rotted, a large number of medicinal herbs were lost in dung, and fire was burned. Flocks of pigs and sheep could not drive out of the mountain, people had an acute illness, carried to the halfway to swallow the breath, the girls outside the mountain did not marry inside, in addition to changing relatives, only to beat the bare stick. In 1962, a deputy secretary of the county party committee came here to the countryside, rode his horse to the head of the cliff and could not find a way down the mountain, and scared the horse to death. After returning home, he allocated three thousand yuan to Xiyagou and asked them to build roads. Since then, they have begun a difficult and long road construction process.
The first time a trail was cut out of the cliff, only the brave people could walk, they tried to drive the pigs out of the mountain, and as a result, they drove 27 pigs for more than a mile and fell to their deaths.
The second time, they changed directions to build the road, and halfway through, they could not advance, but instead attracted the wolves on the mountain into the village, known as the "Wolf Road".
The third time to build a road, they wanted to drill a hole out, the result was a hundred meters, ballast is not good, smoke can not be discharged, the traffic bureau technician said "with the conditions of your tin cliff ditch, 80 years can not be opened, 5 generations do not benefit", the result of this hole became a "sheep kiln".
Three ups and three downs, xiyagou people's twenty years of struggle and exploration, is the hope and disappointment of the soul torment, is the sweat and painstaking efforts and fight. After the failure of the three road constructions, the people of Xiyagou were not willing, let alone dead. The spring breeze of reform and opening up has once again ignited the hope of the people of Xiyagou to walk out of the mountains. On January 1, 1982, the party branch once again raised the banner of road construction. They invited engineers to formulate a bold and innovative road construction plan of "following the mountain, digging holes along the cliff, discharging slag from skylights, and rising snails". In order to raise funds, they took out their savings to marry their daughters-in-law, sacrificed the dowry they had crossed the door that year, donated the coffin they had prepared, and sold their property. The village committee sold the collective trees, cattle and sheep, the breeding room, and even several offices to mortgage the loan. They were determined to fight a battle of destruction and death. They formed a party member attack team, a youth commando team, a single stick death team, a women's support front team, and all the men, women, and children in the village pounced on the road, creating a miracle on earth.

The houses made of red stone slabs, fence walls, water rudders, stone mills, poetic idyllic scenery, fresh and pleasant. Magnificent mountains and beautiful historical legends make people linger.
