Liu Bei, the founding emperor of the Shu Han Dynasty, was after Liu Sheng, the King of Zhongshan Jing in the Western Han Dynasty, who was known for his benevolence and took the restoration of the Han Dynasty as his mission, and created the foundation of the Shu Han Dynasty in the chaotic world.

To this end, historian Yi Zhongtian commented on Liu Bei in this way, saying that Liu Bei is a hero with heroic aspirations, heroic spirit, heroic soul, and heroic righteousness!

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

However, it is such a heroic hero who has not reused his tiger general Zhao Yun in his life, and always takes Zhao Yun, the tiger general, with him as his personal bodyguard.

We all know that Liu Bei has the wisdom of discerning people, so why would he let Zhao Yun, who is brave and good at war, not use him, but use him as a personal bodyguard?

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

The Shu lord Liu Bei gave the answer before he was about to die: Zhao Yun had three things to "smash", which did not meet his wishes, so that Zhao Yun was not reused in his life.

Next, the writer combined with the literature and historical data to see that Zhao Yun had messed up those three things, which made Liu Bei very unhappy, so that Zhao Yun was not reused in his life!

Zhao Yun did three things in his life to "smash"

We all know that Zhao Yun was a good general with the best reputation in the Three Kingdoms period, and he was also recognized as a "perfect person" by later generations.

He and Liu Bei's two tiger generals Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were known as the "Three Soldiers of Yannan", who was originally a partial general under the warlord figure Gongsun Zhan at the end of the Han Dynasty, and met Liu Bei by chance.

After the two met, they talked very happily and formed a deep friendship, and when Liu Bei rose to power, Zhao Yun threw himself into Liu Bei's command, and in the next few decades, Zhao Yun followed Liu Bei in the southern conquest of the northern war and expanded the territory, which can be described as loyal.

However, after Liu Bei established the Shu Han regime, although he gave Zhao Yun a reward, he did not reuse Zhao Yun as much as he did with Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Huang Zhong and other generals, nor did he let him lead the army alone to fight against the enemy, so that Zhao Yun did not exert his military talents during Liu Bei's reign.

It was not until Liu Bei died of illness in the White Emperor City and Zhuge Liang took charge of the military and political power of the Shu Han Dynasty that Zhao Yun was able to lead the army and was entrusted with a heavy responsibility.

So why does Liu Bei treat Zhao Yun differently, let's first look at the dialogue between Liu Bei and Zhao Yun:

Liu Bei instructed Zhao Yunyue: "In the midst of the tribulations, from now on, I don't want to be separated from this place." Qing ke wants to make friends with the past, look at my son sooner or later, and don't live up to his words. ”

Yun wept and prayed: "The subject dares not to do the work of the dog and the horse!"

From these two sentences of dialogue, we can see that Liu Bei regards Zhao Yun as his personal bodyguard of the Liu family, hoping that he will not only protect himself for a lifetime, but also protect his son Liu Chan, and Zhao Yun also expressed his willingness to be loyal in the face of Liu Bei's instructions.

So why did Liu Bei let Zhao Yun be his personal bodyguard for the Liu family for a lifetime? Is it because Zhao Yun's ability is limited and he is only suitable for serving as a personal bodyguard?

The answer is obvious, not that Zhao Yun's ability is limited, but because Zhao Yun "smashed" three things when Liu Bei was alive, which made Liu Bei unhappy.

These three events were Zhao Yun's single ride to save the young lord, and let Lady Sun return to Eastern Wu, strongly opposing Liu Bei's dispatch of troops to Eastern Wu.

The story of Zhao Yun riding alone to save the young lord is well known to future generations, this matter seems that Zhao Yun is very loyal, but he is trapped in danger of Liu Bei.

In 208 AD, Cao Cao swung his army south to Jingzhou, Liu Bei saw that the strong army was suppressed, unable to resist, and left without a fight, while Cao Cao sent cavalry to pursue.

Faced with this crisis situation, Liu Bei left his wife and children behind, and fled with Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang, Zhao Yun and dozens of other horses, and as Zhao Yun himself, his task was to protect Liu Bei's thoughtfulness.

However, Zhao Yun took it upon himself to find Liu Bei's wife and children, which caused a "vacuum" in the guard work around Liu Bei and trapped in danger.

Although it is said that Zhao Yun eventually saved the young lord Liu Chan and also saved Lady Gan, Liu Bei was not happy, after all, his personal safety problem was greater than that of his wife and children, which can be seen from the fact that when he ran away, he abandoned his wife and children, so although Zhao Yun rode alone to save the young lord, Liu Bei was not grateful to him.

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

After saying the first thing, let's talk about the second thing to let Lady Sun return to Eastern Wu.

In 209 AD, in order to contain Liu Bei, the Wu lord Sun Quan married his sister to Liu Bei, and her sister, who was later honored as Lady Sun.

Lady Sun learned a martial art from an early age, and was very arrogant, which made Liu Bei very much in awe of her, after Liu Bei led the army into Yizhou, the Wu lord Sun Quan quietly sent a large number of boats to take Lady Sun back, and asked Lady Sun to take the young Liu Chan with her, so that Liu Chan could be used to restrain Liu Bei in the future.

And this matter was finally revealed, known in advance by Zhao Yun and other generals, Zhao Yun took a warship with the soldier Yangtze River to intercept the Eastern Wu fleet, although Zhao Yun eventually recaptured Liu Chan, but did not stop Lady Sun, so that Liu Bei once again lost his wife, had to remarry Wu Yi's sister as the main room, to solve his "empty nest" crisis.

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

After Liu Bei established his power, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Huang Zhong and other generals were reused, leaving these generals alone, while Zhao Yun always played the role of a "guard chief", accompanied by Liu Bei's left and right, and did not get any reuse.

After talking about the second thing of "smashing", let's talk about the third thing, strongly opposing Liu Bei's dispatch of troops to Eastern Wu.

In 221, Liu Bei, in revenge for Sun Quan's seizure of Jingzhou and the killing of Guan Yu, wanted to lead an army to attack Eastern Wu, and Zhao Yun saw this situation and immediately told Liu Bei jin:

Your Majesty, the current national thief is Cao Cao in the north, not Sun Quan in Jiangdong, as long as we defeat Cao Wei, Jiangdong Sun Quan will naturally submit, if we want to fight Eastern Wu first, we will definitely lead the whole body, once the war begins, it cannot be stopped, so cutting down Wu is not the best policy.

However, Liu Bei was vengeful and felt that Zhao Yun did not stand in his position to watch the development of the whole situation, so he was angry at Zhao Yun's persuasion, so he refused Zhao Yun's persuasion and insisted on leading an army to attack Eastern Wu.

In this war against Eastern Wu, Liu Bei did not take Zhao Yun, a brave general who could fight a good battle, to participate in this war, but left him in the base camp, from this point of view, Liu Bei no longer trusted Zhao Yun, and developed a dislike for him, preferring to use a young general rather than use Zhao Yun, an experienced veteran.

After Liu Bei's army defeated Yiling and led his army to retreat to the White Emperor City, Liu Bei had some arrangements for Zhuge Liang's old ministers when he was alone, but he did not make arrangements for Zhao Yun, the starting minister, which showed that Zhao Yun had no place in Liu Bei's heart.

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

By synthesizing the above three things, we can draw the reason why Liu Bei was not of great importance to Zhao Yun, the starting minister, when he was alive.

And these three things were also the third things that Zhao Yun could "smash" when he was a general under Liu Bei.

After Liu Bei's death, Zhao Yun became the "sharp knife" of Zhuge Liang's Northern Expedition.

After Liu Bei died of illness in the White Emperor City, Zhao Yun, as a veteran general of the Shu Army, became the "sharp knife" of Zhuge Liang's Northern Expedition, in the Northern Expedition, Zhao Yun led the army to face many disadvantages, and the wisdom of the Shu army was born in a hurry, which made the Shu army get rid of the predicament, Zhuge Liang praised Zhao Yun many times in front of the generals, and Zhao Yun fully embodied the value of a veteran general and played a role as a "mainstay" in the Shu army.

On the battlefield of Qishan, the Shu general Ma Mo, in violation of Zhuge Liang's military orders, advocated without authorization when the streets and pavilions were lined up, and was surrounded by the army led by General Cao Wei, and finally defeated the streets pavilions, so that Zhuge Liang's northern expedition was defeated and he had to lead his army to retreat.

When leading the army to retreat, Zhao Yun personally led the troops to suppress the position, so that Zhang Gao did not dare to lead the army to attack, at the same time, Zhao Yun personally supervised the army when he led the troops to retreat, leading the army to return to Yizhou as neatly as possible.

From 227 AD to 229 AD, Zhao Yun became a military general whom Zhuge Liang relied on, whether in the north to attack Cao Wei or to defend one side, he handled these military affairs with ease.

Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun in his life, and only told him why before he died: there were three things that were "smashed"

Zhuge Liang had wanted to continue to let Zhao Yun serve as the "sharp knife" of the Northern Expedition in the follow-up Northern Expedition, but Zhao Yun was already old, frail and sickly, and soon died of illness.

After Zhao Yun's death, the Shu lord Liu Chan immediately issued an edict, which read: Zhao Yun followed the former emperor and made outstanding achievements. At that time, I was still young, and I had experienced hardships and dangers, and relying on the incomparable loyalty of General Zhao Yun, I was able to survive the major dangers safely.

In the edict, the Shu lord Liu Chan first affirmed Zhao Yun's personality and merits, and then told the love between himself and Zhao Yun, telling the story between the two, in order to praise Zhao Yun.

Subsequently, in order to commend Zhao Yun's merits, the Shu lord Liu Chan entrusted Zhao Yun's two sons with heavy responsibilities, and crowned Zhao Yun's eldest son as the Governor of Tiger BenZhonglang, and Zhao Yun's younger son Zhao Guang as a tooth general to show respect!

"When a son is born like Sun Zhongmou, he should be a man as Zhao Zilong", although it is said that when Zhao Yun was alive in Liu Bei, he was never like Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, who were used heavily, and could hold one side and block one side alone.

However, Zhao Yun, as Liu Bei's starting family, was able to start and end well in the chaotic world, which can be said to be a better ending compared to the ending of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.
