NUS Master of Enterprise Development 21fall

Hello everyone, I am a worm mosquito ~ this time last year, I won 8 offers with the help of the guide to study abroad, and finally went to my dream school NUS. As soon as I entered the school, I participated in the autumn recruitment and received offers from many big manufacturers including Huawei, Tencent, and ByteDance.

Graduated in June last year, started school in July, and recruited in august... This year in the study abroad and job search, I, like many study abroad parties, was very hard but also very fulfilling. Today I will focus on studying abroad and job hunting, and share with you my experience along the way.

Recap: Why study abroad?

01 High input-output ratio

As mentioned in the previous sharing, part of the reason why I chose to study abroad at that time was that I failed to study at the undergraduate institute, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to study at a prestigious university, so I gradually turned to the "road of studying abroad". Then another very important reason is the high "input-output ratio" of studying abroad, and it is difficult not to be impressed.

As we all know, in mainstream study abroad countries and regions such as Xingangying, many majors can complete master's courses in one year, which can save a lot of time and cost of graduate school. Especially in this era when the internal volume is very serious, it makes me firm in this choice.

A few days ago, I received internal news that Tencent WXG has stopped the 23rd school recruitment, and many other large manufacturers have also begun to "lay off employees", and the number of employees is saturated is the current situation of many companies. Therefore, the threshold for finding a job is getting higher and higher every year, and it is of course advantageous to be able to finish reading a year earlier.

There are also many students who will ask "will the one-year master's degree be discounted to find a job?" According to my personal experience of Autumn Moves, it will not be at all! Instead, many interviewers will prefer interviewers with overseas experience. Generally speaking, in the eyes of many HR, most of the QS50 masters and domestic 985 competitiveness are the same. Therefore, students who have concerns in this regard do not have to worry~

02 Broader perspective and diverse experience

Another reason I chose to study abroad was that it gave me a broader perspective and rich experience. I studied in China for four years as an undergraduate, so I wanted to take advantage of the master's degree, the last stage of my student years, to go outside and see more. Studying abroad is not only a process of learning knowledge, but also the improvement and improvement of vision, thinking and other aspects.

During my time studying in Singapore, I also met many like-minded friends, including many "gods" who galloped in various fields. In addition, we have a six-month start-up internship in our major, which also added a lot of points to my job search process.

Looking back now, I chose to study abroad for a purpose, and this period of study was a completely different experience from undergraduate in China, which was very important to me.

Reflections on Job Search: What Did Studying Abroad Bring to Me?

01 From "social terror" to "social cow"

All day group discussions, endless meetings, endless pre... This is the realism of my study abroad, and it is probably the daily routine of many international students. Without exception, these activities will make you change from a shy and socially afraid teenager who does not dare to speak, to a "social cow patient" who wants to say two sentences when he sees people, even if his English is crappy.

Yes, that's the biggest takeaway from my year of studying abroad. But I didn't think there was anything wrong with that, at least in the process of my autumn move. For example, no matter what questions are drawn when you are in the group, no matter how strong the opponent is encountered, once the "social cow" attribute is possessed, the high and low can be two sentences. I think this is also the biggest "killer skill" of my group face pass rate of 100%.

02 Farewell to "Dumb English"

This is a very real scene in the autumn trick process, but I am no longer afraid. Speaking English is a permanent pain for many people, but this skill has gradually become a must on the road to job hunting. In this year of studying abroad, no less than 30 times of pre, let my oral level improve a lot, although still can not compete with those gods, but in front of the interviewer "small show two" is still more than enough.

Usually talk a lot, there will be a kind of honey confidence in the interview. Especially when it is learned that most of the competitors are domestic masters, that inexplicable "sense of expansion" comes. So, sometimes it's not necessarily the great colloquialism that helps you win this interview, but the aura that no one can beat, and I enjoy the moment when the interviewer goes from bowing his head to looking up when I introduce myself. This is also one of the biggest gains that studying abroad has brought to me.

03 Friends have more roads to go

During the period of studying abroad, due to the particularity of our major, I have recognized many very powerful friends, such as the big guys in the 6-7 stages of undergraduate internships, such as the "seniors" who make products in Shopee, such as the people who open their own companies, and many things they learned have helped me a lot in my job search. The real experience of people who come over will always be much more useful than the "chicken soup" and "fast food" on the Internet. As the saying goes, "friends have more roads to go", which is also one of the most valuable assets brought to me by studying abroad.

The autumn move is over, and the people who come over want to say it

01 Figure out what you want first!

The biggest mistake I made in the autumn recruitment process was: there was no clear direction for the job search! Products are also invested, finance is also looked at, MKT does not fall, "east a hammer, west a stick", each company delivers positions all according to their own preferences, there is no overall view. This is not only laborious to prepare, but also ineffective.

So here's a tip for your friends: be sure to find the right track for you! This can save us a lot of unnecessary and useless work. Take the product operation post as an example, if a company fails the interview, then a lot of things you prepare can actually be migrated to the next company, such as the work content of product operation and the basic qualities that need to be possessed; there are only differences that need to be prepared, such as the basic information of the company/business line/position. Therefore, everyone must choose their own job search direction and prepare carefully for it, and do not repeat my pit experience.

02 Refuse to be "naked"! The information is ready to go up~

At the beginning of the autumn recruitment, I was basically "naked", and when I received the interview, I went directly to the interview, completely unprepared, which was really a very inflated performance

。 The end result was also very tragic, that is, there was not a single offer

。 So it is recommended that you must be prepared before the interview, I am used to using Word to sort out some questions, including but not limited to Procter & Gamble Eight Questions, self-introduction, basic information of the company, job responsibilities, some common problems in the interview (your strengths and weaknesses, etc.). Do a good job of preparation to make sure you have something to say during the interview.

In addition, the noodle sutra is also very important to us. When I was interviewing Huawei, I asked some of the original questions in the face sutra, and I was really lucky! The two platforms I usually use are Niuke.com and Xiaohongshu, where you can prepare some high-frequency questions for the position you are interviewing.
