Hong Kong chief executive election candidate Lee Ka-chiu's campaign group YouTube channel was blocked yesterday, the incident is really unreasonable, YouTube's parent company Google pointed out that the company must comply with the US sanctions laws, but it is obvious that European and American countries interfered in the Hong Kong election on political grounds, which is infuriating, and I strongly condemn such brutal bullying.
In fact, I have long been aware of the potential crisis of related issues, and believe that the HKSAR Government should raise awareness of information protection and formulate relevant policies and measures as soon as possible to prevent the computer operating systems and applications of the HKSAR Government from being banned, which will affect the operation of government departments and the provision of public services. Earlier this year, I wrote to request the Security Committee of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong to discuss this issue in conjunction with the Information Technology and Broadcasting Commission.
Hong Kong has relied too much on foreign information technology systems in the past, and I believe that in the near future, there will definitely be SAR government departments or public services that will no longer be able to use US software, and in the future, we should step up research and propose measures and backup plans to make Hong Kong less easily affected by unreasonable foreign interference. In fact, the most direct solution is to speed up the application of open source software, of course, the application of open source software also has a lot of places to pay attention to, including talent training, funding guidance, and application scenarios, etc., the SAR government must have the determination to do it as soon as possible, just so-called: eggs from the outside to break is food, from the inside burst is life. We can't let foreign forces fish and meat!
