Anti-Asian racial discrimination has become a "cancer" in American society

author:China.com

On April 15, the Chinese Rights Research Association released a study entitled "Anti-Asian Racial Discrimination Rises to The Essence of Racist Society in the United States", which systematically exposed the growing problem of anti-Asian racial discrimination in American society.

American society is a pathological society, and social ills such as gun violence and racial discrimination have recurred. After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the problem of racial discrimination in the United States has spread and intensified like the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and Asians have borne the brunt of the epidemic and suffered discrimination.

On February 14, 2022, local time, in Manhattan, New York, the United States, the local Asians broke out in a large anti-hate Asian-American march. Deteriorating policing in the United States has caused unrest among Asian-American communities, with a December new York police report saying anti-Asian attacks surged 361 percent year-over-year. The society for the study of Chinese rights report reveals a shocking increase in racist attacks against Asians in American society. The data shows that the overall number of hate crimes in the United States in 2020 decreased by 7% compared with 2019, while hate crimes against Asians surged by 149%, and in the first quarter of 2021, violent crimes against Asians in 15 major U.S. cities increased by 169% year-on-year. Not only that, but reports of attacks on Asian women and the elderly in the United States have also appeared frequently in the news in the past two years.

Asians have long been labeled "model minorities." Discrimination against Asians in American society has not received enough attention. In the context of the epidemic, discrimination against Asians has intensified, and American politicians are inseparable. In order to shirk the responsibility for the inability to fight the epidemic, some politicians have wantonly "thrown the pot" and falsely called the new crown virus the "Chinese virus" and deliberately created hatred against China in American society. And demonizing China necessarily demonizes all Asian faces of the United States, and those who are perceived to be Chinese or of East Asian descent are subjected to various forms of racist attacks. Anti-Asian racial discrimination is like a fast-growing tumor in the body of American society, and if it is allowed to develop, the United States will face a series of serious social problems derived from it.

Fundamentally, the reason why Asian Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and other minorities have long suffered racial discrimination is because of the shortcomings of the American system and the racial structure and social atmosphere of white supremacy. The United States is still a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant state at its core, and Asians, like Africans, Hispanics, and Indigenous peoples, have been subjected to tangible and invisible discrimination and abuse in many aspects of the enjoyment and realization of human rights. In the face of serious racial discrimination, the United States does not have a mature and effective system to solve these problems, and American politicians do not even have the will to face these problems, which makes the problem of racial discrimination hopeless for a long time.

The United States has always flaunted "freedom, democracy, and equality" and has built itself into a "human rights defender" at the "top of the world", pointing fingers at the human rights situation in other countries at every turn. In fact, there is no inequality between different ethnic groups in the United States, ethnic minorities such as Asians have long faced serious racial discrimination, and the "equality" advocated by the United States is only equality that white people can enjoy.

On April 14, 2022, local time, in Michigan, the United States, people gathered in front of the U.S. Land and Resources Administration to protest and march. Earlier, police released video footage of Patrick Lyoya, an African-American resident of the city, being shot and killed by police. Photo/People's Vision

In recent years, the United States has experienced increasingly serious problems such as racial discrimination and gun violence, which has deepened the international community's understanding of the complexity and severity of human rights in the United States. Sadly, however, the United States still lives in its own fictional "city on top of the mountain", reveling in the role of a "human rights teacher" and unable to extricate itself.

A few days ago, the US State Department released its annual country-specific human rights report as in previous years, continuing to point fingers at the human rights situation in various countries in the world. The bad deeds and hypocrisy of American human rights have seriously overdrawn their "credibility" in the field of human rights, and more and more countries have realized that human rights are nothing more than tools of US foreign policy, and the us playing double standards on human rights has also been recognized by the international community.

The so-called "teacher of human rights" in the United States is not at all qualified to make irresponsible remarks about human rights in other countries, and the "moral authority" that it considers to discuss human rights issues in the international community does not exist at all. If the United States insists on playing the role of "human rights defender", I am afraid that it will only expect higher and greater disappointment.

If the United States really cares about human rights and cares about human rights, then US politicians should have the courage to face these problems squarely and promote the whole society to solve them, instead of blindly attacking and accusing other countries of human rights.
