After World War II, in August 1948, south Korea established its own so-called independent state with the full support of the United States, and in the same year, North Korea also established its own independent state with the help of the Soviet Union. In this way, two countries were split on a sesame-sized peninsula.
But apart from the different streams of consciousness and routes, the language and culture of the two countries are basically the same. However, after the establishment of separate countries, the gap between the two countries has become increasingly reflected. The distinction between these two countries is super large, commonly known as the "38th Line", and the so-called 38th Line is actually a military demarcation line.
This line is bounded by 38 degrees north latitude, as early as 1945, MacArthur in the first directive divided in addition to this "38 lines" as a different area accepted by the United States and the Soviet Union, that is to say, the meaning behind the 38th line is very far-reaching, not only the non-military line between the two Koreas, but also the power confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union.
When the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out, our side was slightly under-equipped
However, in 1950 there was a fierce battle on this line, which later expanded further, culminating in the famous Korean War. Since the war occurred in the northeast corner of the mainland, which is the gateway to the mainland, this is like "cold lips and teeth", once the war situation is unfavorable, it will also seriously threaten us, plus the DPRK sent people to urgently ask for help at that time. In order to reinforce Korea to prevent the invasion, in the end, under the consultation of everyone, we sent volunteers across the Yalu River and participated in the war.
The war began in 1950 and ended in July 1953, lasting three and a half years. Although the war did not last as long as World War II, everyone knew that it was also a bitter battle, after all, our opponent was the United States, which is known as the world's number one power. While the American soldiers, each dressed in cotton clothes, celebrating Christmas, enjoying beef bread and drinking wine, and all kinds of steaming milk juices, our volunteers were still thinly dressed and starving.
In the extreme weather of minus thirty or forty degrees, some soldiers of the volunteer army did not even have thick cotton clothes to wear, and could only wear thin cotton clothes or jackets to fight in temporary situations. In the ice and snow, the volunteers drank snow water and ate ice skates and potatoes, and there was no meat and vegetable combination and nutritional balance in terms of diet, but such difficult conditions did not yield to our volunteer army, even in the case of such a disparity in the equipment strength of the two armies, we still fought many victories, and greatly dampened the arrogance of the US combined army.
In January 1953, when the 16th Army, a composite volunteer army sent by our side, arrived on the battlefield, the Americans were even more terrified, and they were too afraid of our strength and slyly that we were cheating.
In fact, there is a certain reason why the Americans are so afraid of the 16th Army. Because the 16th Army was relatively well armed, almost all of them were funded by the Soviets. It should be known that the predecessor of the 16th Army was the First Column of Jinji-Hebei Luyu, and in 1948 this heroic army also participated in the Battle of Huaihai and was incorporated into the Central Plains Field Army during the Liberation War.
During the Korean War, this army absorbed a lot of Soviet soldiers, and also replaced them with Soviet guns and ammunition, and the strength of the army was greatly enhanced, so these troops were called the "Changbai Tiger" army, and became one of the ten main forces of our volunteer army. As for why the Soviet soldiers joined us and provided us with real weapons support in the later stages, it is also very interesting to say.
You know, in fact, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea itself had the behind-the-scenes support of the Soviets, so at the beginning of the war, the Soviets had already premeditated, and they supported us with a large number of military weapons and equipment, but in the early stage, this was not free, but sold to us at a low price, and because of this, with the charge of our volunteer army, they were able to sit leisurely on the mountain and watch the tiger fight, and at the same time they gained a lot of benefits from this war.

However, all the soviets did not expect it, because with the continuous escalation of the war, the war between the two armies reached a white-hot stage, and the Soviets could no longer watch from the sidelines, and they were afraid that the scale of the war would further expand, thus affecting the situation in northeast Asia and the world, so they reached an agreement with our volunteer army and continuously delivered a large amount of military supplies, including mortars and other heavy military equipment.
When the Soviet army was asked to go to the front line, they put forward a condition, that is, to erase the identity of the Soviet soldiers and let them wear the green uniforms of our volunteers, so that under the preparation of everyone, a joint unit in the volunteer army was born.
But in general, this unit is still relatively low-key, because in the beginning, this unit only sent small detachments to sneak attack the enemy in the local area, and fought guerrilla warfare with the Us coalition army, even if it was an occasional big battle, it only drove a few tanks and armored vehicles. In addition, this army is no different from other armies.
However, it was such a low-key army that was still found unusual by the US military, and when it saw the 16th Army change into Soviet equipment, it also caused a great shock within the US army. In particular, in July 1953, 83 artillery pieces of 16 military mortars and more than 82 mortars continued to bombard the U.S. Coalition camp for five or six minutes.
At the end of this bombing, the 488.8 heights, Western Mountain, Douliu Peak and other US joint army positions were all destroyed, which made the US military panic even more. Coupled with the bravery of our volunteer army, the US coalition army was frightened and retreated without a trace.
Originally, after this battle, our 16th Army was still preparing to reorganize its troops and continue to carry out a large coordinated counteroffensive between the combined infantry tanks and artillery units while the iron was hot, but at this moment, it suddenly announced a ceasefire from the general and the war was over. This sudden news surprised everyone and made the US military breathe a sigh of relief, because they no longer had to fear such a strong military oppression.

In July 1953, when signing the armistice agreement, the U.S. military helplessly said these words: "I'd rather provoke the Koreans and the Japanese, don't provoke Chinese, because Chinese can't afford to provoke!" And when they learned that in this war, because the 16th Army had all been replaced with Soviet armaments with the help of the Soviet Union in the later period, they even defended: "You are not sincere this time, you have done a fraud!"
But in fact, the US military also knows in its heart that even if our volunteer army did not change into Soviet equipment in the early stage, it still beat the US joint army to the ground. In a sense, this war is not a contest of weapons, but a contest of willpower. In this contest, in the end, the US Coalition Army lost.
