The Thirty-Nine Steps is a masterpiece by the British writer John Barken. It has been published for more than ninety years, but it is a timeless classic novel that has not faded with the passage of time.

  It was selected as one of the 100 Best Mystery Novels by the Mystery Writers Association of America (MWA). Novels with the same theme as it were selected for Johann Le Carré's "Spy in Berlin", Graham Green's "The Third Party", Ken Follett's "Needle Eye" and many other modern and contemporary masterpieces. In 2009, the British "Guardian" selected "1,000 novels to read before death", and Bakken had two works selected, one of which was "Thirty-Nine Steps".

  Thirty-Nine Steps is about a man named Richard Hannei who came to London from Africa and was bored. One day, he meets Scuder, through whom he learns the secrets of an international spy organization. Afterwards, Scudder was killed, and Hannei became the main suspect. In order to evade the police and spies, he fled to Scotland, where he was cleverly and cleverly escaped from danger again and again.
