Zaha's posthumous work is completed
-
For design,
The last work does not only represent regrets that could not be completed,
They may derive from concepts,
The project was halted at the beginning of the project,
But people still will
I am looking forward to its glory after its completion.
Nowadays, in addition to focusing on creation,
Designers are also working hard
"Continue to write" the dreams and inspirations of the predecessors,
Building after building has also been able to move from sketches to reality.
Recently, Zaha Office completed one of Zaha's posthumous works, the headquarters of the BEEAH Group, which took 9 years to complete and finally shine in the desert.
It covers an area of 9,000 square meters
"Artistic fluid" in the desert
The BEEAH Group has always adhered to a two-pillar strategy of sustainability and digitalization, with six key industries including waste management and recycling, clean energy, environmental consulting, education and green transport.
The headquarters in the desert represents a milestone in THE DEVELOPMENT OF BEEAH, the building's avant-garde appearance, minimalist interior style, creating a strong sense of technology, indirectly demonstrating the close connection between advanced technology and sustainability, and also laying the groundwork for the blueprint for the intelligent era and sustainable city.
Zaha won the BEEAH Headquarters Design Competition in 2013, and its renderings were animated by mir, a top rendering company.
The building covers an area of 9000 square meters and meets LEED Platinum standards. The façade is designed with streamlined bodies, and its concave and convex appearance echoes the dunes and sand ridges formed by the wind blowing in the desert, and on the other hand, it is also a perfect fit with Zaha's "curve supremacy" idea.
Looking around, the whole building looks like a desert dancer, swirling and stretching in the wind, sometimes soft, sometimes solid, full of sensual posture.
The water feature of the waterfall is created around the building, and the clear water surface adds a touch of moisture to the desert, combining the magnificent landscape of the nearby with the architecture.
At night, the exterior of the headquarters building will glow and become a beacon in the desert.
Practice sustainable attention
Fight against intense light
Most of the building materials are locally sourced, and in order to minimize solar radiation, the exterior cladding and roof of the headquarters building are made of lightweight glass fiber reinforced concrete (GRC). The building used about 4,000 GRC plates, each weighing 100 kg.
The building has a solar farm made up of Tesla batteries that can meet the building's 24/7 energy needs.
In order to prevent light pollution and ensure indoor lighting, the designers abandoned floor-to-ceiling windows that show the landscape, but placed the windows as low as possible.
The curved spatial contour "folds" multiple areas, greatly improving the permeability of the building, and natural light can be extended indoors.
Insulated glass panel materials reflect natural light, and from the outside, this material is similar to a "gentle mirror", which imprints the external landscape on the building without producing "aggressive" light due to the warm sunlight.
The gaps between the surfaces also provide a secret passage to sunlight, in addition to the many triangular tiny skylights created on top, further providing ample daylight and visibility.
There is also a water filtration facility on site to filter and recycle wastewater to reduce water consumption and achieve irrigation functions.
Front-end technology
Aesthetics and technology complement each other
The interior design does not take the intervention of ornaments, but on the basis of rich line contours, it is filled with light strips and working facilities, creating an avant-garde sense of technology on the basis of minimalist style.
The interior features a 15-metre domed hall, and in the white space with blurred boundaries, the center of the room is still evident, with the staircase connecting in front of it and different work areas on both sides, and the chandeliers are marked by triangular patterns.
Curves and straight lines form the best balance in the space, every detail is done to the extreme, and the headquarters is both stable and flexible. For example, the curved edges of the stair table are seamlessly connected to the handrails next to them, and the partitions in the work area contrast with the ceiling and walls.
The two main "dunes" house the public administration as well as the administrative districts, connected by a central oasis. In addition, the headquarters is equipped with smart meeting rooms, an immersive visitor center and an auditorium.
A number of smart technologies are also set up indoors to achieve LEED Platinum standard operations with net zero emissions and the lowest energy consumption.
Contactless paths with secure biometric check-ins, virtual concierges, intelligent meeting spaces, and daily work applications all guarantee a work experience for HQ employees.
The lighting and temperature of the smart meeting space will be automatically adjusted based on the number of people and the time. The room is equipped with powerful collaboration features for remote and departmental collaboration.
I believe that everyone will find that the design theme of BEEAH Group Headquarters is not only curves and beauty, but also the confident display of science and technology. Each part of the building creates a visual perception beyond aesthetics in the communion of technology and beauty, and here alone one can envision the perfect vision of the future of the city in BEEAH's eyes.
