Metacosm may become an efficiency tool to increase productivity

The term metaverse is derived from the American science fiction novel Avalanche, which originally meant a virtual world that was born out of the real world and parallel to it and was always online.

In the second half of 2021, Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia and other technology giants entered the meta-universe industry, making the meta-universe concept explode. Ma Tianyi said that at present, there is no unified definition of the metacosm in the industry, and he divides the metacosm into two categories: the narrow metacosm and the generalized metacosm.

Among them, the narrow metacosm is similar to a "parallel world", which is a virtual mapping of the real world. The broad metacosmonic concept is a tool to help the traditional manufacturing industry increase productivity.

Car companies with a keen sense of smell at the new outlet have taken the lead in combining various ways with the concept of metacosmology. Among them, most car companies choose to seize the track through the model of registering meta-universe trademarks.

According to the statistics of the Securities Times E Company reporter, in just a few months, more than 10 car companies such as SAIC Group, United New Energy, Dongfeng Motor Group, Weilai, Ford Automobile, Chery Automobile, Xiaopeng Automobile, Ideal Automobile, Great Wall Motor, FAW Group, BYD, and Geely Holding Group have registered meta-universe related trademarks.

Ma Tianyi said that it is very important for car companies to register meta-universe trademarks, just like everyone preemptively registered Internet domain names many years ago.

In his view, car companies preemptively register the meta-universe trademark, which will cause more people to pay attention to enterprises and products, and the follow-up will be a better combination of the design and product listing of new cars and the meta-universe, which will have a good marketing effect.

"Personal judgment, the application of the meta-universe on the automotive marketing side or will land in one or two years, and more car companies will use the meta-universe in the future to carry out more abundant marketing methods." Ma Tianyi said.

It is reported that at present, BMW, SAIC Zhiji Automobile, Hyundai Motor, Changan Ford, Changan Auchan, GAC Aehan, etc. have all integrated the concept of meta-universe in product or brand promotion. Xiaopeng Motors has also launched its own NFT digital collection, inviting car owners to co-create.

The metacosm will not revolutionize autonomous driving

Previously, Nvidia had proposed a plan: based on the "everything can be virtual" characteristic of the metaverse, virtualizing a "high imitation" earth for autonomous driving road testing to obtain a large amount of road data and accelerate the testing and technological upgrading of autonomous vehicles.

Based on this background, the industry is full of expectations for the prospect of "meta-universe + automatic driving". However, Ma Tianyi gave a clear judgment, believing that the metacosm will not bring revolutionary changes to autonomous driving technology, but in the medium and long term, it can indeed promote the research and development efficiency of car companies on autonomous vehicles.

"At present, the vehicle research and development efficiency of many vehicle companies is low, and the production and manufacturing efficiency also has a high room for improvement, and personal judgment, the landing of the meta-universe on the vehicle research and development side still needs a certain amount of time." Ma Tianyi said that in addition, in the longer term, with the improvement of automatic driving technology, the hands and feet of drivers and occupants will be gradually liberated, and the demand for in-car entertainment systems will also expand, which will also drive the application of meta-universes on the vehicle entertainment side.

Lidar and marketing are prioritized

With the significant heating up of the concept of metaversmonics, many provinces and cities in China have competed to support the development of metaversmic industries.

In December last year, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology organized a symposium on the development of the "meta-universe" industry, which clarified the application space of the meta-universe in the fields of artificial intelligence, blockchain, third-generation semiconductors, and advanced equipment manufacturing.

At about the same time, the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Shanghai Electronic Information Industry" was introduced, which proposed that the forward-looking research and development of the basic core technology capabilities of the underlying core technology of the meta-universe will be strengthened, and the development of new terminals and systematic virtual content construction that deepens perception interaction will be promoted, and industry applications will be explored.

Subsequently, Jiangsu, Hefei, Wuhan, Shenzhen and other places have also made plans and actions to support the development of the meta-universe industry. During the two sessions of the National People's Congress this year, a number of people's congress deputies and CPPCC members also put forward suggestions for strengthening the supervision of the meta-universe market and building a top-level plan for the commercialization, industrialization and ecology of the meta-universe.

Ma Tianyi said that at present, local governments attach great importance to the meta-universe industry and will make relevant deployments in combination with local advantageous industries. Due to the different characteristics and positioning of various provinces and cities, there are also certain differences in the specific planning of the meta-universe industry.

Ma Tianyi judged that specific to the industry track, the lidar industry may be the core scenario of the meta-universe application, and the terminal equipment manufacturers, communication companies, shaft companies, chip companies, laser module companies, etc. related to it will take the lead in benefiting. At the same time, the demand of car companies for the meta-universe on the marketing side will be significantly improved, and the related marketing enterprises will inevitably transform in this regard, and the value of their single products will be significantly improved, which will also benefit some marketing companies.

In addition, Ma Tianyi reminded investors that at present, the mainland only allows the first subscription and mutual transfer of the corresponding products of the meta-universe, and does not allow secondary market transactions. Therefore, when investors see that there is a platform that can carry out secondary transactions of meta-universe digital products, NFTs, and meta-universe tokens, they need to be vigilant and avoid risks in time.

At the same time, Ma Tianyi also stressed that for the concept of meta-universe, I hope that the industry will not have too high expectations. Creating a virtual world in a narrow metacosm requires a very high cost. At present, it is recommended that you understand the industry more from the perspective of the generalized metacosm and see it as a tool to improve production efficiency and improve the local experience.
