AC Milan are one of the most famous teams in world football, but in the last decade they have fallen from the pinnacle of the sport. A series of poor performances have left them obscure in the Champions League, but they are now back in the Title Race in Serie A and appear to be a force that needs to be considered again. That fact can only be supported by news of the club's acquisition, which will set off a huge transfer boom in the summer. According to Italian media reports, Milan will be taken over by Bahraini investment fund Investcorp this summer. The report shows that Milan will have a transfer budget of around 300 million euros, which links them to some of Europe's top talents. The company that took over Milan wants to see the Italian club return to its peak state in its heyday.
In order to achieve this goal, the company will reportedly make a substantial investment in the team. Zagnolo and Chuamini were both linked after the news of the acquisition, but Zagnolo has just recovered from two back-to-back injuries and the best clubs in Europe want Chuameni, so Milan are unlikely to get them. But which players are likely to sign this summer? Menion has been in impressive form since coming to Milan from Lille last year and Milan have not felt a loss at all from Donnarumma, so they are not looking for a new goalkeeper either. He is a staunch patron saint and for the second consecutive season became one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
Sven-Botman
Milan snapped up Menion from Lille last season, and this time they can also snap up Sven Botman from the French side. The Dutch defender helped Lille win the title last year and was impressed again in the 2021-22 season. With injury problems and a lack of options this season, Milan's efforts to find a centre-back this summer are clear. Right-back Kalulu was forced to become the centre-back in the four-back system and signing Botman would bring him back to the wing. Tomori needs a stable partner by his side, and Botman is that person, as there are reports that a deal is about to close.
Maran-Saar
If Botman doesn't sign, or if Milan just want to improve their squad depth, Maran Sal could be selected again. The Chelsea defender was watched by Milan in January, but the Premier League club blocked his transfer due to their own defensive problems. Due to Chelsea's ownership situation, the deal will not be struck anytime soon. He will play as a left-centre-back like Boltman.
Renato Sanchez
Frank Casey's contract expires at the end of the season and Milan are looking for a replacement. They are reportedly in the lead in the race for Portugal and Lille midfielder Renato Sanchez. His injury problems may be a concern for Milan, but his ability is unquestionable.
Greerich
As a replacement for Casey, another option outside of Sanchez is Florian Gryllich of Hoffenheim. The technically well-rounded Austrian can play either centre-back or centre-back, meaning he is the perfect complement to this squad given Milan's shortcomings in both positions. He has performed well this season, proving himself to have excellent forward passing ability and long passing ability, and is also a defensive player.
Lingard
While Sanchez and Grylic could play the defensive midfielder Milan are looking for, the club are also looking for an attacking midfielder. Brahim Diaz has a good start to the season, but he has been in a bit of a slump lately, with they reportedly targeting Manchester United's Jesse Lingard. He was recently found in Milan and was contacted to transfer to Serie A. With old Trafford's game time hard to come by, it's likely that someone will leave this summer, and Milan could be the Briton's destination.
Nkunku
Nkunku should have been listed as a midfielder before this season, but his development this year has completely changed that. The Frenchman played the pseudo-No.9 in Leipzig, but there was nothing falsified about his goal record. He has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season, and his creativity has not diminished as a result. Nkunku's ability to play in multiple positions on the front line or as an attacking midfielder is perfect for Milan.
Asensio
Marco Asensio is also often associated with Milan, and the Real Madrid player could fill the team's vacancy on the right wing. After signing Brahim Diaz and Kaka, the two clubs have a good working relationship. Like Jesse Lingard, Asensio recently appeared in Milan.
Berardi
Another option outside of Asensio is in Serie A, pursuing Sassuolo's Berardi. His team-mate Skamaka is also within their focus, but Inter are also interested in him and he seems to have strayed from Milan's horizons. While Berardi has only played for Sassuolo, his stats suggest he should play for better teams. The Italian has reportedly scored more than 100 goals for the club in less than 300 games and is likely to move to Milan.
Origi
Like the deal with Botman, Origi's move to Milan is almost certain. The Liverpool striker is a substitute for Anfield and he could play a similar role in Italy, though he could play more. As a goalscorer who can score goals in key situations, he will add much-needed experience to a fairly young Milan team.
Alai
Ajax striker Sebastian Ale has also been linked since the acquisition was reported. After joining West Ham, he did not fare well in the Premier League but rebounded in the Dutch league. He has contributed more than 40 goals this season, 13 of which have been completed in eight Champions League games. Ale's striker style is similar to Olivier Giroud and Ibrahimovic, and he will fit perfectly with Milan's style of play.
