Among them, the senior gameplay programmer position requires "more than 5 years of experience in the game industry or significant experience in first-person shooter games". It is also advisable to have "experience with any version of the id Tech engine". id Tech is id Software's own game engine and is used in most of its games.

id Software has developed many well-known FPS titles, such as Doom and Quake. This new unpublished FPS title could be a sequel to a well-known series. Based on the use of the id Tech engine, the foreign media inferred that it should not be a sequel to the "Rage" series, because "Rage 2" uses the APEX engine of co-developer Avalanche Studios, and the next game is slightly less likely to switch to id Tech.

The job description mentions "cooperating to implement new game features: player and character behavior, combat, and ability mechanics", so the game may include mechanisms to increase your character's abilities. This exists in "Quake", considering earlier rumors, foreign media speculate that it may be a reboot of "Quake". However, it is also possible to introduce this mechanic for the Doom series.

Of course, this could even be a brand new IP for id Software, as the details in the job postings are so vague that it's impossible to speculate further.
